Mrs Guitar is 21 years younger than me. We've never found it to be of any great significance, having been together 14 years.

Does anyone else here have a significant age gap with their other half? Any issues caused by it, or no worries?

How old are you/ A friend is 12 years younger than her husband. Been happy for 30 years, but when he retired and she had years of work ahead, resentment began to surface. Now she's coming up to retirement and wants to go on adventures, and he's late 70s and not interested, she's very unhappy.

When your wife is 60 and still full of life, travel or whatever, you'll be 81 and wanting to stay in and watch Countdown.

It also depends on your age, if your partner is 10 years younger and you are 35 that's ok, but if you are 25 that's problematic.

Mrs M's father remarried a much younger woman after a divorce, they were very happy. He died a couple of years ago and after nursing him in his last year or so now lives alone in the middle of nowhere, very very lonely and maybe another 30 years to get through alone.

Not necessarily. Nothing in life is guaranteed.
I suspect Paulguitar started this thread re the news of Buzz Aldrin's wife dying a few days ago at the age of 66.
They married just under 3 yrs ago.
Buzz will be 96 in less than 3 months time.

The wife is 3 days older than me, doesn't seem to be a problem. We still like the same stuff.

Been married 45 years, Mrs WR is eight years younger than me,

However, when I was 21, my partner was 44, that relationship lasted nearly five years.

Age is just a number.

This is why the ‘half your age + 7’ formula was invented.

I’m two which means I should only enter into relationships with 8 years olds or older

My Mrs is only 5 years older, but quite a few things happened in that 5 years (or as a consequence)...

Decimalisation
Moon landing
Turn of decade
O levels to GCSEs (difference of exam when 16)
Vietnam war ended
England were still world cup holders

Not that I ever, ever bring them up..

A friend of mine got together with a lady in her mid 50s when he was 20. The were together for over 30 years until she died suddenly but even in her 80s, it felt as if the age gap was less.

I have another friend whose wife is 10 years older, he's now 60 but his wife now has age related issues.

Personally, I've never been attracted to people much older or younger. Many assume that men aspire to younger but if I was looking for a relationship, whilst I wouldn't set an age range, I just don't find younger as attractive.

But then again, it isn't physical attractiveness which primarily attracts me.
