Any Airsoft Experts?
Discussion
Afternoon all,
I think I’m in the right area of the forum as I’ve seen discussions about air rifles here.
My best pal died suddenly and unexpectedly a few weeks before Christmas. He was an avid collector of Airsoft and Air weapons. I was helping his widow yesterday sort through his collection for sale. I ended up coming away with this WW2 Mk 2 Sten.
I’d really like to get it working again. The only trouble is, I don’t know how it works, who manufactured it etc? I just don’t know where to start.
I know it did work, as I had fired it with my pal a couple of years ago.
Can anyone advise?

Looks like a gas blow back version - I think a company called Northeast makes them. You'll need a can of Green Gas to operate it - it's available online or in Airsoft shops (it's basically propane with a silicone additive). You gas the magazine up like filling a lighter.
Have a look on YouTube for Northeast Sten, you should find some videos showing the operation.

Thank you Han, (Solo) Have a look on YouTube for Northeast Sten, you should find some videos showing the operation.

Yes, it very much is a blow back type. There looks like a charging (gas) port on the end the of the magazine.
For moving stuff on and general advice I can recommend the bunch over at https://airgunforums.co.uk/index.php

Do they have a classified section as I couldn’t see one, maybe you have to be a member?I have a loft full of Airsoft guns from when my lad used to play, would love to sell them but they are nigh impossible to advertise anywhere

is a good resource, lots of airsoft players have moved over to discord now though.
selling stuff can be a bit tricky and stuff that has sat around for a long time is probably going to need a level of re-commissioning before it will work reliably again.
I might be interested in taking some stuff of your hands if it is interesting though I am mostly HPA these days.
Don't forget if you selling a RIF to someone you have to know they have a valid defence

Hello,
My friends widow has just submitted an on-line evaluation appraisal form to Pellpax? With accompanying photos etc.
The bulk of the collection is mainly very high end Air Rifles, one which he was getting for Christmas he’d never fired - poor bugger.
The gist of the thread was mainly getting the Sten operating which I think I’ve got my head around.
Out of curiosity, what is RIF?

S5 Violent Crime Reduction Act covers realistic imitation firearms. Find a reputable local gunshop for disposal of the airguns.
That Sten is a lovely thing and a great way to remember your friend.
This exactly. We’d been good buddies for over 35 years, to lose him age just 55 only a few weeks ago was a massive shock - it still is now. That Sten is a lovely thing and a great way to remember your friend.
I’ve got no real use for the Sten at all, it’s purely a sentimental thing. Him and I were both big fans of the film Hannibal Brooks starring Oliver Reed, there was a character in the film called Paky played by Michael J Pollard who always used a Sten.
Me and my mate always used to talk about it. So when a realistic BB one became available, he snapped it up. We had a great afternoon firing it in his garden a couple of years ago.
It’s purely something to remember him by, and not just all the other memories I have of him.
And, yes it’s a very well made piece of kit.
