Just a hypothetical that came up recently in conversation

The British Isles (and Ireland) have been attacked by a nameless foreign power. They deployed Nuclear weapons and now the entire area in the circle is knackered. Everyone has to go. There is no radiation outside that circle. You have survived with your immediate family.

The entire rest of the world has stepped up. And said that anyone can move to their country. You will be expected to work. They will give you the exact same job you have now, on the same amount of money. So if you currently get twice the national average in the UK for your job. You'll get twice the national average in your destination.

They will give you free intensive language lessons if applicable to get you fluent, and help you make the transition buttery smooth by explaining local tax laws etc.

Where do you fancy? And why?

Anywhere in Scotland, just no work there for me and too late now.

Pretty place, lovely people, though perhaps different if you are English living there I dont know.

But it is my favourite place in the world.

For such a big fan you seem ignorant of where it is located geographically, as its slap bang in the middle of the red circle.

The nuclear blast would have improved Jaywick ten fold.

But...Oman. somewhere coastal down towards Dhofar, or maybe Salalah.

Spain is nice, but sadly it's already stuffed full of leathery skinned English pensioners.

Without the salary part I’d have plumped for the Italian dolomites. But seeing as everyone is being so generous I’ll go to Switzerland

Not a pensioner yet but it’s where I spent the covid years and I’d do the same for a nuclear fall out.
