A spider has walked the entire length of the kitchen... Which got me thinking about the distance in human terms.

I worked out that 'Spyder' has walked the equivalent of 100m.. it's on the way back now.

For comparison: Length / Height.

Adult: 2m
T-Rex: 12m (L) & 4m to the hip... about the height of a double decker bus.
Blue Whale: 30m
Titanic: 269m
The Shard: 310m
Eiffel Tower: 330m
One World Trade Center: 541m

There was an excellent two- part documentary with prof Jim Al-Khalilli on this, with the first part focusing on small things and the second on the big stuff.

A 8 hour sleep is 0.0000114286% of an average human lifespan of 700,000 hours.

For a house fly that has a life expectancy of 672 hours (28 days), a "fly's night's sleep" is just under half a second.
