I was chatting with the daughter of a neighbour and she recently had the middle bit of her nose pierced and a hoop inserted. A bit like a bull.

Apparently, she is also going to get her eyebrow pierced.

I have no piercings. I really don't understand the need.

Do some blokes actually find it attractive when a woman has random facial or body piercings?

Crazy viewpoint, what if it is being done for their own reasons, rather than to be deemed "attractive" by anyone?

Anecdotally a stroll through Shoreditch will tell you random piercings and tattoos aren't limiting appeal for those who do partake.

Personally I do not like piercings, they just look wrong. I've never understood the mentality of thinking that shoving a bit of metal through your face either somehow makes you look better or somehow defines you.

The only thing I personally think looks acceptable are earrings from the earlobes, but just one piercing per side, and even then I'm sceptical about what looks good. Those big hoops look naff, studs look pointless, the only thing that looks reasonable are tasteful gemstones hanging down but even then it's not an everyday look and more suited to more formal occasions.

All IMO.

...and why is it only about what 'blokes' find attractive? any why only about women? Last I checked it is 2026 not 1956.

Each to their own.

If I am planning to get a piercing, I'll check in with PH first.

Weird, isn't it, that young women aren't styling themselves in order to appear attractive to opinionated middle-aged men?

A timely thread this! The new girl at work, 20 years old, has asked me how she should style her pubes. Maybe the OP could chime in?

Like many my age (mid 50's), I'm not the biggest fan of facial piercings and I don't understand what the appeal is. But then I'm not a great fan of tats either but thats just me, not an age thing.

I suspect there will be someting else for the next couple of generations to do different. There always is.

Crikey - you've got that on the agenda pretty quickly. Unless "Pubes" is the name of her dog, then I'd make sure HR are in the room with you when discussing that subject

It was just a joke really, I wanted to see if any opinionated middle-aged men had strong opinions on how 20 year olds should sort out their personal administration. Never mind, it's dead now.

I don’t mind them at all, they can look good, personally the only one I’m not keen on is septum piercing. Each to their own though.

I have tattoos and I find it bizarre when some people feel a need to tell me they don’t like tattoos, like I should care?

My mrs (70 years old) has a tiny diamond stud in the side of her nose. I like it and so does she. smile

I have a tiny diamond in my left ear, I'm 59 and had it since I was 29.

Don't think either of us care what other people may think. smile
