So, talk to me about private detectives, where can one find them, are they expensive, what's the success rate. Knowing PH there may be one lurking.

I need to track down a scumbag who's robbed 83k euros from my mothers dementia ridden partner, although this took place in Spain, the aforementioned scumbag has fled back to the Uk, and I have a rough idea where she is, ie town on south coast.

I realise I pretty much have zero chance of getting any of his money back, but if I found her, then I could certainly hammer some frozen sausages into her lawn, or s**t through her letter box in true Pistonheads style. At the moment social media is my only help in tracking her.

I know the fine people of PH like a challenge.

An associate of mine had a car accident where he had hit a tree, but before that clipped another vehicle, something he recalled was merely side contact and her car was clearly previously damaged.

The other lady was stating not just the usual whip lash etc but that she was severely injured, unable to leave house, pick up the kids from school or do anything really.

They’d hired a PI to follow her and he’d got loads of video footage of her pushing the kids on the swings at the park and in supermarkets and very quickly she dropped all this bs.

So if u get the right one they’re great.
But bar typing into google PI and ur local city I couldn’t reccomend much.

Think Twice:
My Dad was once told by somebody who was in one of the services... don't mention whiplash whilst still in the car...you might find that you suddenly have a convertible.
(Or less of one if it's already one.)

And don't let an injured person sit in your car for the same reason, according to a post on here years ago.

thumbup That's quite true. So if any of your passengers decides to try & pull a fast one... you could be in trouble.
(So those 'crash for reward' scammers better watch out... not that they are bothered.)

I think that if you are in an accident... just wait a few days.
For being a good Samaritan... probably unadvisable to move them anyway.

Probably quite sound advice, unless they’re not breathing properly then pls move them and to hell with their neck.

This sounds as though it could be a worthwhile and interesting thread...
Which town on the south coast?
Does the perpetrator have any identifying features?

192.com can be quite useful for tracking people down if you have some partial details.

Social media is always a good place to start if you have a name, amazing how stupid some people are by posting their whole life on it for the world to see

Hi Quattromaster,

I deal with Spanish law and because of situations like you describe I also know people in the UK that can trace people in the UK. Feel free to send me a DM and I will see if I can help.

Before the Internet and social media .
It was done by footwork, getting description, checking the electrol role ,interviews with family or work colleagues, girl or boy friends .
These days social media and the Internet is a useful place . A mobile phone can be tracked easily with modern technology

Went to my grannies funeral about 15 years ago

Turns out just after the war she was a private detective

She used my dad as a new born to get really close to the facts / subjects

Fascinating to hear

Did you learn what kind of work she did? On the basis of thorough research(watching stuff on TV and remembering it) PIs back then mostly pursued people looking for them shagging people who were not their spouses and photographing them in bed to facilitate a divorce, with the side gig of supplying people with divorces by photographing them in bed with people not their spouses. hehe
