Any ideas why there have been so may fly's in my front room today by the bay window?
I've squatted possibly around 30 to 40 fly's today all about the same size and type but no wasps or bees. They are not in any other part of my house and the doors and windows have been closed all day as well as most of the weekend as I've not been home. I don't have any indoor plants or greenery and it doesn't smell of anything 'nasty' but every time I go into my front room there are at least 4 or 5 flying around but only in the window area.
Expecting a few amusing replies but just curious as to why they have appeared today and only in a single room. confused

Has the room bare floorboards?

I had similar, no smell but loads of new flies crawling up through the gaps, drying their wings then buzzing over to the closed window.

The noise was quite incredible especially when I emptied a can of Raid at them and quickly shut the door.

I recently watched a fascinating documentary where a very large but lovely American chap cured various people of terrible diseases by taking on their illness, once he had rid the person of their illness he appeared to release ingested flies from within his own body.....

Have you been feeling unwell recently?

The room has carpet all over and no bare floorboards or gaps, but interesting that you have had a similar experience. wink

There is.
It has a gas fire in front but maybe a good place to start looking for any gaps where the little buggers are getting in

Dead bird or rotten egg in a nest in the chimney attracting flies.

Inspect the chimney.

I'm sorry, I really tried not to. But I have to.

It's 'flies' not 'fly's'.

Just so you know, if you misquote someone for humorous effect, it is traditional to put "ftfy" (= fixed that for you) after.

Do check if they are cluster flies, makes a difference and are difficult to get rid of due to their breeding pattern. Google lens one.
