The brackets aren’t ideal. I’m 45 so which bracket do I put myself in?

Would you rather be 35-45 or 45-55?

I’m wondering why I was forbidden , yes, really, from posting an innocuous comment about the Subaru today. The worst thing I could imagine was that maybe it was a bit dull.

Bloody hell, us Millenials must have really locked the door behind us, either that or Gen Z hasn't found the button under the door mirror to get in yet

Pistonheads is basically Mumsnet now - can't imagine anyone under the age of 35 using the site.

This poll is quite revealing. I've thought for a while it was mostly middle aged men, now its confirmed.

Might as well start calling this place dadsnet.

That's true, but most of us would've been a group or two, and some even more, lower when we first started using the site. The problem, as also experienced by many other groups, is lack of engagement by the younger groups and/or how they're treated if and when they do join such that we can't seem to retain them. If they don't find anything interesting, they won't bother. If they do find it interesting but are put off impossible-to-penetrate cliques, derogatory remarks due to their young age, lack of experience or new use of the site or similar, they won't hang around.

Besides that, everything needs to evolve to survive. Given changes in motoring and the wider audience of PistonHeads now compared to its origins, Dadsnet or something along those lines may not be such a bad idea actually. PH wouldn't even need to change its name, just purchase the domain(s), point them here and market itself as such. There are lots of people and channels which cover niche interests in supercars, car reviews etc., better than PH, but those places don't provide the same camaraderie that PH has always provided.

I have attempted to vote and become the first 18-25 but it doesn’t appear to have accepted my response yet hehe

As others have mentioned the time of the forum and owners clubs using them died out a good few years ago as facebook took over

At 33 it looks like I'm one of the youngest here!

It's true that forums and blogs have both been chewed up by Social Media. But also PH has an ageing demographic, especially us "old guard" who have been around for a quarter of a century.

I wonder how Social Media bans and an increasing distrust of AI & fake news in Social Media may change things? Who knows.

All the younger ones have been banned....
Im still at the good end of 40s but can see why forums are dying. Times has moved on and forums havent adapted with it.

I disagree. The fact that PH is still thriving shows that forums do not need to "adapt". Indeed, where they to try to pivot into direct competition with mainstream Social Media then they would be swallowed up.

This is what ultimately killed TVR - their niche / target market got swallowed up by the big boys.

Agree

All the worse for it though - whereas forums used to be (and still are) the place to find detailed reviews, technical guidance, help and advice, the FB groups just seem to ask the same basic questions over and over again.

I can and do live without the various video shorts. I find them a terrible way to get information as they take a long time to get to the point - much prefer to skim threads.

I'm 35-45 bracket
