Androis phone gone "voice only"?

Can anyone help?
I'm android illiterate and my phone has gone voice only.
Even my calendar accepts only voice instructions and thus has become useless.
I assume it's a google thing and I cannot find anything in settings to return it to a typing (only) search......
The fact that it cannot understand the simplest thing makes my phone about as useful as a stone....

You've either removed the keyboard you were using, or you've set the default keyboard to Google Voice Typing.

Keyboards are apps, some built in and some downloadable, and the default keyboard selection is in Settings somewhere.

On mine it would be under SETTINGS < ACCESSIBILITY < INTERACTION AND DEXTERITY < VOICE ACCESS, toggle the latter off..... alternatively search for voice access in the search bar in settings

Thjanks, but I can only get to "accessibility" and no further, all points after that are for voice interaction only, nothing to switch voice off and keyboard on!

Try holding the volume up and volume down buttons at the same time and holding them down for 4 seconds


You may have a prompt to confirm accessibility.

What happens if you ask it to open or go to the other settings, doesn't that work ?

Accepts the voice but stays dumb, doesn't go to anything

I've just said to my phone "ok google....open keyboard app" which takes me to the settings for the keyboard,where the option for voice typing is a toggle, presumably I can then say turn on/off voice typing, I didn't try it obviously, I don't want to be in your position .... but that will only work if you have Gemini running.

Thanks... it won't even react to voice commands as "xxxxnot running"!

openkeyboard app..
didn't..... so re-installed....
it seems the GBoard wasn't working/Switched off... now all back to normal!!
