Interested to hear real-world experiences of having a sugar-relationship.

Does it work?
What do your close friends and relatives think?
How much should a sugar-daddy expect to spend?
Do you have a formal or informal arrangement?

Although the idea of such an arrangement sounds good.

Bizarrely, there never appeared to be any of the aforementioned “sugar babes’ that frequented the Sheet metal workers, coppersmiths and welders working men’s clubs !

If I were to write a song about it, these would be the lyrics

Sugar daddy, come on and sugar me
I want your lovin' so come on and give it to me
Sugar daddy, sugar daddy, oh
Look at me, I'm beggin' for more, more, more...
Sugar daddy, set me free
Sugar daddy, come for me
Uh-huh, come on and sugar now

One of my friends does. He's very open about it and I've met his "babe" many times.

He's wealthy, stung by a divorce that saw his assets more than halve, and determined never to let that happen again. He used sugardaddy which worked for a couple of years. Met his current squeeze on seekingarrangement. Young blonde thing at University who marketed her assets to him. I think he "funds" her about £2.5k a month. Prostitution? Possibly, but they get well and the dynamics has changed from wham bam to a lot more companionship, much like a marriage but without the financial risk.

Basically a bloke buys to get humiliated by being used just for money, whilst receiving limited and specific contact with a woman? Isn't that called marriage?

So long as no one is co-erced or too young to make the right decision for themselves i see no issue with it, each party getting what they want or need from the relationship.
For as long as people have existed those with power wealth and standing have been attractive to others, its not as if rich men in particular go short, unless the sugar babe in question decides on blackmail these arangements remove the obvious gold diggers from the equation who wish to marry to plunder the wealth of their targets.
Maybe from such agreements love can grow.

No doubt has its seedy side as these things inevitably will.

The main difference is one you can cut your losses when you’ve had enough and the other you burn at least 50% of your net worth.

You'll find Gen-Z isn't bothered by the labelling. Isn't marriage a form of prostitition?

As Mrs Merton would have said, if she'd had the opportunity, "Tell me Anna Nicole (Smith, 26), what first attracted you to 89 year-old oil billionaire J. Howard Marshall II? They married in 1994 and he died in 1995.

Totally immoral ... Would you find this acceptable if the girl was your daughter?

I don't find it immoral at all. My daughter is an adult and can do this if she wants.

No. It may or may not include sex. I wouldn't want it to go sexual unless there are some genuine feelings on both sides.

Long story, short version: my so-called official “wife” has been taking the piss for a few years now, and it's getting worse. I'm hoping she goes off with her boyfriend soon. I have no desire to marry again, so I don't want to use “dating sites”.

At a particularly low point, by chance I re-met a friend (we first met at work about 4 years ago, but I no longer work there) and things moved on a stage, and by that I mean we went on a social date (no sex). We went in her car, I paid the expenses while we were out, and on the way back I bought her some petrol, and asked to meet her again. We did. I don't feel at all guilty, and I'd like it to continue.

Having Googled a bit, I find this is a very small arrangement, I have no interest in giving her £2,000 a month, I just want to pay for the expenses on our days out, and expecting some physical companionship in return (no sex).

Most PH-ers say asking for a friend, but I'll be honest and say no, I'm asking for me. Never done this before.

Isn't what you're proposing just a platonic relationship or friendship where you are choosing to pay the expenses?

Does it have to have a 'label'?

Personally, as an independent woman, I would feel uncomfortable with a man paying for everything, but that's just me...

I think you'll find the incidental relationship in the real world is far more common than you think. That can range from your situation of expenses to a full blown salary.

There are sugarbabys who will play along 2, 3 4 or more guys.

Hmmmm, I think it's more than that, as I'd be comfortable with holding hands and more, but not sex (yet).

M4 Cruiser, what you are describing is far from what most would think of a sugar daddy/babe situation.

Its refreshingly old fashioned and rather romantic if i may say so, a gentleman of the old school (no offence, meant as a compliment) has invited a lady out and feels its his perogative pleasure duty call it what you will do pay for the day out, real men have been doing this since time began we don't expect or want a woman we are escorting to be paying out for a day we're enjoying too, that isn't a chauvinist thing its simply traditional and built into us and many women appreciate such behaviour.

Whatever happens, i hope your present relationship difficulties sort themselves out and wish you nothing but the best for whatever your new adventure may hold.

Because along the way, someone's puritanical feelings from 1820 is hurt.
