I am selling a phone on facebook marketplace and got a message on a post i placed on facebook stating

hey! I’m interested in your Iphone 12 pro 256gb unlocked £180, I couldn’t reach you on facebook kindly text me on messenger thank you.

I then messaged them and they want me to post it to them after they send the money via bank transfer. I assumed they were friends with the person they responded to but turns out they are not (they didn’t say they were i presumed).

They are no wanting me to move onto WhatsApp as apparently this is easier for them to contact me on.

Just seems fishy to me what do you peeps think?

If it smells like a scam, it probably is. Just tell them feck off and find another pigeon.

Yeah thought as much. Very good at calling my bluff though as they said they are based in Bristol and i genuinely am going there on Wednesday so offered to drop it off. They have given me an address bit with a name that doesn’t match theirs, why did they give me a name anyway??

Don’t use marketplace. Find your very local “buying and selling” FB groups as while not perfect, you can at least ensure that they are very local and some semblance of existence.
