Always wanted to start one of these, and I believe it's time with snow on Cairngorm Mountain today.

We're a little short of named storms so far this year!

I've just ordered a new ice scraper for the car so we'll be needing sunscreen all the way into new years...

Well timed with a frost this morning in Aberdeenshire. Feels like another one setting in tonight too. Wood burner lit.

Bugger!

The UK experienced 117 consecutive days this summer with the temperature being 20C+ somewhere in the UK.

And today, 7th October is the day that streak came to an end and it is combined with the opening of the winter thread frown

I hope we get many more summers like the summer of 2026 but this one will live in the memory thumbup

I feel sorry for the folk who are yet to be born and will be teenagers in 2076 - They will have to listen to old geezers rambling on about the summer of 2026, just like the young folk of today have had to listen to old geezers going on about the summer of 1976 wink

Best thread of the year! bounce

Lovely chill on the air tonight (Beeston, 5 miles outside Nottingham). Just been for a 5 mile walk, beef stew done in the slow cooker for dinner, log burner will be lit later and I may have a couple of drinks to celebrate the cold weather later.

Heat lovers have had an epic summer, now it's time for long dark nights and bitterly cold winter hikes for me.

Good times.

First frost this morning here in East Lothian but it has been a lovely day.
