Criticism for many things but I have had a good experience with them this week. Bought a car at the weekend from a guy selling his deceased father's car . Did the ownership transfer online for him on Sunday, he wasn't confident doing online stuff due to mild dyslexia. Recieved the new logbook today .
Just a little warning do the taxing before filling the online transfer . Occasionally the new logbook is issued immediately and then the new keeper reference is out of date and won't work .

How/why would you tax it before doing the transfer? Doesn't it refund the tax when the transaction happens?

Some have missed the point ,you can only use the reference number that is in force ,if upon notification of transfer a new V5 is generated straight away the reference number supercedes the number on the new keeper slip that you would use to tax the car . You need the reference number in force to tax the car .

Yeh, been caught out by that once, had to wait 5 days for the new V5c before I could tax it. Didn't know about taxing it before the change of ownership, surely that is against their system but maybe the computer is clever than I think

It didn't when I did it. Of course, though, you are using the reference from the new keep slip, So I guess the computer knows...
