The fact that he has a title which is Sir Sugar, but either he tells people to call him informally Alan and they just stick the formality on the beginning or he asks to be call Sir Alan therefore being formal and informal at the same time ?

Bit like at school when every male adult was sir and every woman miss.

Sir Alan is the correct way to address him.

His title is Sir Alan Sugar. The words should be said in that order.

Really, by his first name, even with a sir in front of it, well suck me sideways, you learn something new every day.

My mum used to work for an old boy who had been knighted. It was very amusing when you were having a laugh with him as it was perfectly ok to insult him , so long as you called him Sir afterwards!

"Oh do bugger off, Sir John"

It is a bit odd, since prior to knighthood he would have formally been Mr Sugar, if he gets made a Lord it would be Lord Sugar.

There is something quite special when you have a very good, friendly, working relationship with someone who has been enobled and can get away with saying things like, "In all honesty you're talking bks your lordship."

If they insist on me addressing them as "Sir Alan", then I would insist on them calling me "Mr P", otherwise its first names all round.

Dear me that's awful, where does it end?
When he's fishing he's Caster Sugar
When he's dieting he's Low Fat Sugar
When he's with Posh Becks it's Sugar & Spice
When he's drumming he's got the Sugar Beat
