Container measuring 8cm X 8cm X 6cm. What's its volume in litres? Can any of the mathmatics genius's out there show me how to work this out, or at least give me the answer in litres please.

As you now have the volume in cm3,

1 litre = 1000cm3

I'm sure you can do the rest...

When I clicked on this thread I thought "easy" length x width x height.

Then I thought mmm thats so easy surely no one could ask that, so I had to check myself on Google!

I thought that equation only gave you the area, not the volume in litres. I still dont understand it.

How can three dimensions give you an area?!

That won't give you the volume in litres, it will give you the volume in centimetres-cubed (already been said). Easy to get millilitres or centilitres or litres from that.

Think of it this way- Length x Width = Cross section/ area of a face. Then you're multiplying by depth of this cross section, which therefore gives the volume.

Amazing, I was going to post the length of a drive shaft, the distance between lower link and centre of wheel spline and ask somebody to calculate a shim size for me to be placed at the diff end of the shaft for a given change in camber angle.

Think I'll do it myselfbiggrin

0.08 x 0.08 x 0.06 = 0.000384 m 3(cubed) = 0.384 litres

a) Stress

Stress = F/A, unit is Pascal

b) Strain

delta L/L, unit is percent

c) Modulus of eleasticity

Stress/strain. Unit is normally Pascal, as strain has no real unit

Damn, I knew school was for something. BTW it's not mathmatics you need, just arithmetic.
