For some reason, certain spelling and grammar errors occur repeatedly on forums, to the extent that I notice them reocurring.

What a full, interesting life I lead.

Anyone got a fave?

Mine is the spelling of "ridiculous" as "rediculous".

It looks so instantly wrong that I don't know how anyone that can type can leave it like that.

People saying and writing "brought" when they meant bought. I just don't understand how you can get the two confused.

The use of 'of' instead of have, annoys me for some strange reason.

'Breaks' and 'bumbers' apparently fitted to cars belonging to some people...

I don't get annoyed by it, but I do find certain repeated typos quite funny.

Why one error and not another? Why "rediculous" and not, say, radiculous"

In the end, on a forum you are judged by more than just what you say, but also by your posting style (and that includes spelling, but many other things). I'm afraid if I see two opposing posts, one well-written and one littered with errors, I'm going to pay more attention to what the former poster has to say, as they are likely to be more intelligent.

As an aside, I'm sure plenty of folk here have been a member of a one-make car forum, and realised it was time to change car when new posters arrived who talked in text-speak.

My new (un)favourite is the confusion of on behalf of and on the part of.

A surprising number of people seem to have their mistakes made by someone else.

Which will inevitably have changed into something all spelling Nazis would detest in 100 years, as is the way with language.

"Embrace the text speak for lo, in the future we will do away with these nasty vowels."

Never! If that happens, then I for one hope I will be dead in a hundred years.

Police today found the body of a man who had been beaten with a lobster and then stabbed to death with a viola.

They suspect it's the work of a surreal killer.

The incorrect use of ', for example "the dog picked up it's bone"

Take note thickos, the ' symbol not does mean "oh crap here comes the letter s"

They're/their/there

Not that difficult. They're confusing their words there.

For those who don't know, write this out 100 times:

They're = They are
Their = Belonging to them
There = Over there

I think I'm generally quite tolerant of the odd typing or spelling error, but sometimes these sort of mistakes make a post unreadable. Same applies to hear and here. Where, we're, wear. Sight and site. You're and your.

I know it's only an internet forum, but I usually get these things right out of habit. It doesn't occur to me to use the wrong word because it wouldn't make sense.

i agree with you're post mate. I dont sea why when you come on a forum people right thigns which are clearly wrong as if their doing it on purpose, bonified idiots the lot off them.

we should start a campain to get them all removed.
