Spelling Nazis: your favourite forum spelling/grammar error
Discussion
For some reason, certain spelling and grammar errors occur repeatedly on forums, to the extent that I notice them reocurring.
What a full, interesting life I lead.
Anyone got a fave?
Mine is the spelling of "ridiculous" as "rediculous".
It looks so instantly wrong that I don't know how anyone that can type can leave it like that.

I don't get annoyed by it, but I do find certain repeated typos quite funny.
Why one error and not another? Why "rediculous" and not, say, radiculous"
In the end, on a forum you are judged by more than just what you say, but also by your posting style (and that includes spelling, but many other things). I'm afraid if I see two opposing posts, one well-written and one littered with errors, I'm going to pay more attention to what the former poster has to say, as they are likely to be more intelligent.
As an aside, I'm sure plenty of folk here have been a member of a one-make car forum, and realised it was time to change car when new posters arrived who talked in text-speak.

I don't understand why people get so annoyed with bad spelling etc. It's only a forum.
And it's "only" the English language."Embrace the text speak for lo, in the future we will do away with these nasty vowels."

They're/their/there
Not that difficult. They're confusing their words there.
For those who don't know, write this out 100 times:
They're = They are
Their = Belonging to them
There = Over there
I think I'm generally quite tolerant of the odd typing or spelling error, but sometimes these sort of mistakes make a post unreadable. Same applies to hear and here. Where, we're, wear. Sight and site. You're and your.
I know it's only an internet forum, but I usually get these things right out of habit. It doesn't occur to me to use the wrong word because it wouldn't make sense.
