MIL started an argument over "you didn't say thank you properly for the wedding present" - on the day we returned from honeymoon... how many time or ways can you say thank you, thank you, thank you - oh and thank you...
went downhill from there.

10 years later - havn't spoken to her for the last 4 at least. biggrin

If what I bought was red, it should have been black

If it was in the sale, it was still overpriced

If it wasn't in the sale, should have waited just in case it was

If I drive too slow, speed up

If I drive to fast, slow down

If I want a BBQ, have a roast

If I want a roast, have a BBQ

Get the idea?

But that said, she's a good old boot and I wouldn't have any other smile

My MIL is a complete pain, mostly due to her influence on the wife. Fortunately the wife doesn't put up with any more/doesn't let it affect her.

She never visits, despite only living 25 miles along the motorway. FIL isn't allowed to breathe without her sayso.

The wife has two older brothers who also can't be bothered with their mum.

Well possibly a little sad but I get on with the MIL better than any member of my family, can't fault her.

MIL (now dead) was an absolute sweetie. I don't recall ever having any major issues with her. Unfortunately she pre-deceased PIL who is and always has been a control freak and is a right pain even in a nursing home.

I've always been aware of the MIL jokes throughout my life and always took them with a pinch of salt. At 28 I'm settled, living with a lovely girl and buying our second home together. However, since meeting her Mum three years ago I have lost count at the number of times she has been unreasonable, unfair, bhy, snobby, argumentative or rude.

Like most people she can be lovely and certainly has a great sense of humour. Sometimes I think it's me but because she is a funny cow so often I almost come to expect it. My OH is aware of it but refuses to say anything as she knows that if she did confront her there would be a huge fallout and we can't be bothered with it.

So guys, give us some shocking MIL stories so mine doesn't seem quite so 'up her own '!
Mine lives with us! She's old, lazy, hard faced, ignorant, self centred, speaks lousy English, ignores things, does everything her own way, and she moans and whines because she feels we should be providing her with a nice retirement back in the Philippines, rather than have her over here looking after our little 'un while wifey and I both work.

I've paid for two kidney stone operations for her, back in the PI, spent £thousands on medicines and hospital care, because she was too ignorant to listen to advice and look after her diabetes, before she moved over here.

scratchchin

But she can be okay sometimes.

she's great. her only 'problem' is always putting others before herself.

I get on with MIL & FIL extremely well and they can't do enough for us. They will even come from Somerset to Reading for a couple of days to babysit. thumbup

My first MIL was/is a right royal PITA, she faffs about like nobody's business and has no concept of the real world, mostly due to the way she lived with the guy she was with at the time. If she ever came here, or I go to visit her, then you can feel the stress levels rising from the start. Saying that, my partner seems to get on with her, but then the first time they met was when we had to go and pick her up as her son (who was my ex at the time) was in ICU at hospital, very surreal week.

My current almost MIL, is an absolute angel, in fact she has one of the kids at the moment and I have no idea when she is returning him, she has, over the last 6 years been just like a mother to me and I love her to bits.

We're not actually married, but as good as and the MiL is Marie Barone (Everybody Loves Raymond). In fact, the first time Mrs. SB saw the programme she said, "Oh my god, that's my mother".

I must say, mine's great. Super chilled out, great cook, good fun to be with, artistic, generous and great with kids. If my OH turns out like her then I'll be over the moon.

I was showing her PistonHeads this weekend, and she has a laptop. She might be reading.

Evil.

Deep, dark, unremitting evil.

No redeeming qualities whatsoever. Someone who worships daily at the altar of the Daily Mail.

I cannot even begin to describe the contempt for this tiny, birdlike skulking figure of banal mediocrity dressed in the civilizing dress of 'public opinion'.

Hateful, hateful, hateful.

Jesus, I'm nauseated just typing this. She is beneath any contempt.
