I signed up for this a few weeks ago and have had some steady success getting rid of an old kitchen and bike without any problems.

I've found that some people make ridiculous requests. Just reading through the noticeboard this morning struck up a WANTED - ride on petrol mower. I mean, WTF, these are £2k-£3k new, why would anyone see that advert and go, oh yeah I don't use mine, I'll give it away for free!

I realise people are trying their luck, but surely that's just taking the piss.

My question to you is, what's the most ridiculous thing you've seen offered or wanted?

I saw on our local one a woman giving away an entire Sony surround sound system - about 2 years old as well. Assumed it was revenge/divorce. Gutted I missed it though, people must have pounced on her!

Not sure organising a gangbang is the best way of getting revenge on a husband.

Sometimes people are prepared to take on 'broken' stuff and repair. We've given a couple of older things away that may have been fixable but we weren't prepared to waste the time. (such as a video camcorder)

O dear...I did actually laugh out at that. I'm glad modern keyboard seems to handle reconstituted coffee with aplomb.

I have used it to get rid of old furniture, DVDs, videos etc, worked well.

I have had baby toys, furniture and even a racing car bed i collected yesterday - £140 in the wilkinson catalogue, good condition, free!

Can't argue and it saves taking stuff to the tip.

How much would it be worth though? A lot of that kind of stuff is close to worthless after a couple of years so selling it is more hassle that it's worth. OK, maybe you think it's worth, say, £50 but would you actually pay that? I just looked one up on eBay and it sold for £21.

freecycle is great for saving you having to cart stuff to the tip - only thing I don't like is having to pick someone from all the applicants!

We gave away a tumble drier - had no room for it in this house, from posting the advert to having it collected was a matter of an hour. It would have taken longer to get the seats out of the wife's car to take it to the tip.

I was building a Linux PC on the cheap, and needed a monitor and keyboard. These things aren't expensive, but going on Freecycle I got them both for nothing.

I recently picked up a 28" crt TV, I wanted a portable to test the Xbox (softmodding it to XBMC, no TV in my study) but the 28" means I can put it in the spare room and let the kids use the Wii on it, save the lounge TV for grownups!

Latest one on my local - not a big request:

in desprite need of a washing machine, cooker and fridge or fridge freezer. Moving in to a house in XXXXXXX tuesday with my little girl and i have nothing so anything anyone has thats in working order would be very much appreciated.

Nothing except internet access that is!!!

Had previous requests for flat screen TV, playstation, x-box, cars, mopeds, sheds and chickens seem to be a regular on our one - everyone wants to grow chickens for some reason??

There are some genuinely nice people on there, most are scroungers who want their house kitting out with new gear for nothing.
