Not sure where this should go, really.

DanTXD was a member of the site for a couple of years - spent a lot of time lurking, but sometimes popped up with a post.

He was mostly known by the mad Francophiles, as he had a Clio V6 and later a Clio R27 Team F1.

Sadly, Dan passed away at a very young age last week, after a long battle against cancer.

His story has been published by his local newspaper:

http://www.fileymercury.co.uk/news/39As-long-as-Da...

Many may not know him, but just in case anyone here did know him and wondered why he hadn't posted for a while, then I thought it was worth posting.

That is very sad. Rest in peace, Dan. My thoughts go out to his family.

RIP Dan you put up an amazing fight.

if he liked cars and french cars so much the such like i wonder if taking his ashes to Le Mans with his father as a passenger would be the kind of thing that PH could organise.... too much alcohol and thinking of things i would like to happen to me, make me think of weird things in tribute to people.

Sorry had too many friends lost that I have done stuff like that for in memory...

Oh my goodness. I used to post on some newsgroups a few years back and DanTXD was a regular poster back in the day.

RIP.

Ahhh, that's where I know him from - I did wonder if others on here may have known him from the same places.

This would have been approx 2003/2004 I guess.

I was more a lurker than a poster. I do remember an Alfa fan called Steve - not SteveH per chance? (Really stretching the old braincells now!)

Few other names I remember - Vamp, Fishman, Dervman to name but a few.

Damn, found out!

Vamp and Dervman are still very much around - Fishman less so, although I think he popped up recently after passing his DAS.

I think we had a few discussions before, although for the life of me I cannot remember what username/email I used to post under. I had a Renault Clio at the time! Are the usergroups still in existance?

Damn. I'm now stuck in 2003.

Will raise my glass to DanTXD when I open a bottle tomorrow.

Yes, they're still there and very much alive.

Vamp got rid of his Chavalier, bought a couple of MR2s, then an E36 328i with nikasil issues, now drives a Mini.

Dervman is no longer a Dervman, as he has a Saab 9-3 1.8T.

Fishman had a Lancia Thema Turbo, went traveling for a bit, then came back and bought a Merc W123.

Most of the old regulars are going up for the funeral on Monday, but unfortunately business appointments mean I can't make it frown
