My father was in Lidls last week hunting for tools and called me to let me know that they are selling off 175x mag telescopes complete with tripod. The price - a bargain £39.99.

I have a set of Bins made by the same company so thought it worth a punt, and I have to say it's bloody brilliant. The tripod alone is worth the money and the image quality is superb. Get thee to Lidls fellow perverts!

I just need a wheelchair and to bear witness to a murder and I'm sorted.

My Dad gave me some big fancy telescope that he had got for 'looking at stars' but didn't use, unfortunately as I have no interest in astrology and live in the middle of nowhere (no-one to perv at) I had no use for it so it went on fleabay........

Why would you be using a telescope for astrology?

They're quite handy for astronomy though.....

Rear Window, its very good, involves a motor racing photographer, murder and Grace Kelly (dead old person).lick

Edited to add I'm not into necrophilia. She was very, very, very fine a few decades ago whilst living.

Is it any good for watching planets and the moon?
I got a place in the middle of nowhere with zero light pollution and always fancied the idea of stargazing through a telescope. Would it be suitable or is this only really good for looking at soemthing 100 meters away?

It's very good. I was using it last night and was able to see stars that I couldn't with the naked eye.

To give an idea of its ability, I live about half a mile from a ruined castle. Using the full magnification, the pigeons roosting on the top totally fill the image seen at the eyepiece. At this mag though, you start to be affected by atmospheric effects (shimmering image).

I was hoping to look at the moon last night, but some bugger appears to have nicked it. Anyone know where I need to look at the moment?

How does one attach it to a camera to photograph the moon?
Or can't you?
