Anyone wear either Musto Buckden or Le Chameau Vatna boots? Want a good new pair for next season, some good prices around at the moment, but can't choose..... Any reviews or tips welcomed.

Well they be a warm as a decent pair of neoprene wellies?

Comfortable over distance?

Hard wearing?

Come to think of it, I should probably consider Dubarry's as well....

Thanks.

Chameau every time.

I've had a pair for about 8 years now, no sign of wear and hugely comfortable. The most popular boot on shoots in my experience.

Hi

I've had a pair of Vatnas for two years.Excellent boots, keep feet very toasty, unfortunately this means you can only really wear them when it's pretty cold.
My only criticism of them would be that they loose their 'shape' if tossed away in the back of the truck wet.Remedied this by buying some boot trees suitable for riding boots.
I have a pair of Vierznords for general day to day stuff but for looking poncey the Vatnas are the bizz.Unfortunately my 'mates' do call me a gheyer when I wear them.

Specifically the Vatna, or Le Chameau in general?

I've got a pair of Dubarry boots and I absolutely love them. Waterproof, warm, comfortable and they look great. Just avoid the gayer colours and go for:

I may a bit cuckoo, but whilst of obvious good quality, the Dubarrys look too much like ladies' boots to me, whereas the Musto and Le Chameau are a bit more 'manly'.

Plus, the Dubarry does appear to be the popular choice around here (that and green neo-lined Le Chameau), whereas no-one I shoot with has either of the others, so I fancy being 'different'.

I should try some on though, just to make sure.....

nono

Whilst the Dubarrys look superb on the laydees, particulary the girlies on the Bredon Hill stand at the Game Fair.
In my humble opinion they look bent as Alan Carr on a bloke.

A friend was given the Musto ones (he's a rather good shot and so is Musto sponsored). He liked them but found them uncomfortable when zipped up but just right unzipped.

I have the leather lined green Chameaus and a pair of the neoprene lined ones. Both are excellent but you can only wear the neoprene ones in sub-zero weather - too hot otherwise.

Shooting boots? Well, I never. In my day a stout pair of brogues and a good pair of woollen socks did the trick. What will they think of next, eh?

Surely it depends on where you shoot. Those Dugarry's would be utterly trashed after 5 minutes of Grouse shooting up here. Heather bashing would ruin them. Suede nono IMHO obviously.

Bear in mind at the moment I am only range shooting but a pair of High Tech Magnums do the job very nicely, they're comfy, have great ankle support and aren't over priced. Just wear thick socks when it is cold. I might have to get something that goes a bit higher above the ankle for field work, though mainly for the water proofing.
