Not good for them. Dogs need a varied diet.

OK, why not feed it meat, and fresh whatever else it needs? You wouldn't feed your family "balanced diet in a tin" so why do you consider it good enough for your dog?

Being time poor may be reason, I think the dog prefers dog food to cornflakes for brekkie although i think thats what it has been eating in the past with gravy on.

All my fosters are fed on a good quality complete dry food. No additives (can send them loopy and give them allergies - think E numbers). Low protein as well or too much energy!

I haven't fed moist food since around the early 80s. Complete dry food I find is much better for them. Lovely shiny coats and clear eyes. Don't overeat or chug it down. Tinned dog food is often rubbish IMHO

I'll second that, the dry stuff is often of much better quality/nutrition.

Dry food, lots of water.

Better for their teeth, too.

And don't let the buggers dictate to you what they'll eat; no healthy dog has ever starved itself to death just because it wanted Pedigree Chum or Caesar instead of Vitalin. There's no such thing as fussy dogs, just fussy owners.

used to work for a company testing "fine foods" tins, lets just say we got somewhat inundated with cases where some old dear fed their dog the cheapest of the cheap food and for some strange reason the dog died from food poisoning...

never knew dogs were omnivores, mostly as their teeth are all canines and designed to eat meat, next will be told that cats excel on a veggie diet smile

I have my dogs and rescues on a BARF (bones and raw foods) diet. It has worked very well for mine and I recommend it. Chicken wings are a favourite with my brood. Raw eggs and fish oil are good for coats too.

Dry foods are good as long as it isnt Iams.

That's not quite true. My dads dog didn't eat for quite a bit with the food he was offered. Wasn't a one off.

I always thought dogs couldn't eat chicken bones? something to do with them splintering and choking the dog?
