Someone I know is moving there.

Is it nice? What do you do all day? Is it easy to start a 'net business there?

Only spent a few days there, but yes, it's okay. Busy, but efficient. Really not as expensive day to day as you might think - a snack alongside the harbour will cost you less than it will at any airport in the UK. I can think of better, less busy, easy to get out of and more practical places to live... It's there as a tax haven by the sea, that is all.

I'm not a huge fan of the place itself...although I love the big boats in the harbour!!

Cheers

ETA: I'm sorry OP if I have just relegated this to the Boats forum :-(

Its a nice place to visit, lots of great food and things to see but its very small and once you seen it, there's very little else to do. I wouldnt want to live there.

It's a bit like Park Lane on sea.

st.

Tacky, tasteless, overpriced, overhyped and has no 'soul'.

It's like Blackpool and Disneyland rolled into one.

If you have a walnut tan, dress in oversized glasses and shiny material and you're drawn to shiny ostentatious displays of wealth and you've always dreamed of a gold house then you'll probably love it.

It's worth a 2hr visit just to see how tasteless it is and confirm you hate it.

If that sounds like hell then you'll probably prefer Villefranche / Nice.

Just add 'claustrophic' and that will be spot on.

There are some real posers too, dedicated though: when I went there is was about 40 degrees in the shade, everybody was trying to get out of the sun, except this one guy, happy to sit in his Enzo, baking, on the phone... silly

I wonder how much more crowded it'll get with the new higher taxes?

Isle of Man property prices have got to go up.
