For ideas to combat this:

http://www.res-group.com/products--services/large-...

Now everyone in the village and the adjoning villages have opposed this from the beginning. North Lincs council denied planning permission but the lovely Secretary of State, thanks tt, decided it should go ahead anyway on the provision that the construction traffic didn't come through the villages.

Now RES have put a planning application in to bring the traffic through the villages.

There is a village meeting tonight to discuss things, but I thought I would get some more ideas from you lot.

Thanks

so what is the point in having a County Council if their decisions are going to overruled anyway rolleyes

if the Council have denied planning, then they are obviously on your side, and willing to act as your mouthpiece ?

also- if the traffic is now going to come through the village is it suitable for all the HGV's that will be carrying the stuff (the blades alone could be 35m)

if it was to be built without coming through the village - why must the traffic now come through the village, have RES changed their mind - or have they not thought of something ? what else have they not thought of ?

You can just get a artic through both villages. No idea how they intend to get anything bigger through.
Got town meeting tonight to find out all the rest of the information.

They were orignally going to bring them across a bridge that comes off the local main A road the A18. The guy that owns the bridge refused to let them use it, so now they are coming through the village.

They won't get through the village. The single decker bus can barely get through the village.

Doesn't always work - our site in Darlington now has half a dozen newt ponds , built as a direct result of overcoming this objection .Still no newts though .Better 'find' an MP's second home in the area - they are sacrosant and mustn't be disturbed .

Er...because some issues are of National importance and NIMBYism would rule if occassionally the Central Government didn't step in.

I mean no local council is ever going to vote for something it doesn't like/want in its own district.

Unfortunately all of our Nuclear Power Stations/Wind Farms/Waste Incineration Plants/Prisons/Airports/Motorways etc wont all fit on one small uninhabited scottish island...

On what grounds is your objection? Is it the issue of traffic for 12 months or something more fundamental?

The fact that we didn't want the farm there in the first place. The fact that the permission was given on the grounds that no traffic went through the villages. The fact that a 35m turbine blade and hgv will not fit through the village.

Would you?

Everyone knew there would be access problems and there is.

The area where they want to put the horrible things is criss-crossed with bridle paths that are in constant use.

They will be in view from the whole area.

Sadly, nobody likes the look of these things but ALL governments embrace them as one of the ways ahead. That being the case, frankly, why not your area? Its not like its the only one to have them.

I'm one of those strange people who actually like the aesthetics of modern turbines so I have to say, it wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

To each their own however. smile

TBH I wouldn't have them anywhere, they are inefficient and ugly. I'm not adverse to power stations in my area, there is one half a mile up the road, and if windfarms worked then I wouldn't be bothered about anything but the traffic coming through the village.

Perhaps, if there were only the three illustrated; perhaps not if you're looking at 50 or 60 of the damned things.
