Will the new Millenium be an age that's studied in depth in the future?

We have:
The internets
Terrorism
War
Plague (possibly)
Recession
Technology
Medicine & medical science (cloning etc)

...personally I think the internet will be the bigger issue with regards to study unless the pig-flu or something else (Nukes?) bigger takes the headlines.

I reckon your right.

'It's a well-known fact that the search engines are indexing only a small part of the entire Internet content.

But what is the Internet's exact size, especially since the 2005 boom has added 17 million new sites?

In his speech at the annual conference

of the National Advertisers Association, Eric Schmidt, Google CEO, said that, from the data recorded by the search engine, it seems that, at this specific moment, the Internet is made up of 5 million terabytes.

Even Google, which is considered currently the best search engine ever, has succeeded to index only 170 terabytes up until now, Schmidt said.

Google has been indexing information for 7 years, and if you want to have an idea on how fast this process is, it seems that, in order to index the 5 million terabytes of data, the search engine would need 300 years. And this would be valid only if nobody posted new content on the Internet...

It would be interesting to find out how much are the other search engines indexing compared to Google, so we can have a complete image of what is currently accessible.'

So maybe one day, the internet will have it's own archaeological team?

All of the above could be the Internet. Internet terrorism creating wars, plague read Porn wink Recession the dotcom bubble bursting, technology and so on...

Personally I think Governments will pass laws to allow them to read everything we type and view on the internet and people will simply stop as they don't want big brother watching their every move.

Population migration due to famine (caused by many factors), will be the big issue. Then the resulting attempt by nations to regulate their borders. We will be happy we have The English Channel again one day.

Don't forget though the internet is only new and still unregulated to an extent. I think theres going to be a few internet revolutions to come yet with regards to security at least.

I posted a similar question on another internet site similar to this about your kids or great, great (recurring) grandkids if they discover your avatar or want to find out about you in a few hundred years & go trapsing through your posting archive. What better to find out about history than reading the popular forums of the time. Even going back 100 years now there is a wealth of information but at the same time it's difficult to get.

Will V8mate's grandkids revive a 100 year old thread on PH? hehe

It's a carnivore that lives in Scotland. It's got razor sharp teeth and ambushes it's pray (including people) from tree tops. When cooked & served the Scottish call it Haggis & it's a delicacy up there.

HTH

The above was said to a couple of Yanks on Xbox live who were asking what Haggis is & so the bullst flowed nicely, this being the final result. Got them hook, line & sinker!

I think you will find all the necessary letters, perhaps just not the correct order.

Future historians will question the origin of Goodyism and it's rise to become the dominant religious belief system of the late 21st and early 22nd centuries.
This will be due, obviously, to the legacy of the Jadeian purges that will lead to the aberration that will be referred to in the post-darkness as 'The Minging' and it's horrific effects.
With the eventual destruction of the OK! Ministry of information those few brave souls who begin to question the accepted photostory of history will be initially reviled but ultimately vindicated when the English language replaces engtxt as the national tongue and a new age dawns.

Nothing of note has happened yet, with the possible exception of increased Muslim/Western tension and the beginning of the West's socialist slide to self-destruction as our enemies help themselves.
