Total insurance cost Vs Claims

Afternoon Phers

Lets see if we can summon up a PH winner. Who has claimed more then they have paid out? who has paid out thousands and claimed nothing?

My stats are pretty dull,

Total insurance circa (last 9 years policies)£3500,

Total claim exactly £0.

circa -£3500

I know you can do better!

over the years:

Paid to insurance companies circa 4k

paid out by insurance companies to 3rd parties, 1 due to an ex who cant see cars waiting for a roundabout, 1 due to me rear ending a tool who pulled out in the fast lane in the pouring rain without indicating as i was about 10ft away and then claiming whiplash even though he was fine to play football against me 2 weeks later.... 9.5k

so im 5.5k up and now they are all of my licence biggrin

Paid around 9k over the years.

Probably cost somewhere in the region of 60-70k to my insurance companies. 1 single claim alone const my insurance company 41k (that includes 3rd party whiplass claims etc)

Yes my car insurance is rather expensive these days.

Other half over 15 years paid approx £10,000 pa insurance on business cover. Fire in 2003. Eventually insurance paid around £2,000,000 rebuild costs plus business interruption.
Strangely premium went up to £52,000pa.

He was also told by insurers that he had to install a massive pump and tank sprinkler system at a cost of £250,000 instead of the mains system he had. The end result was he sold the now vacant land and bought new premises on an industrial estate and changed insurer. New premium £15,000pa

In 25 years of driving, probably about £12,500 for insurance. One accident in 1989 would have cost about £800.

I don't think I'm getting good value for money.

Around £13,000 paid - over last 17 years.

No claims myself.

A guy in a Golf GTI did take out my first Cerbera though - total cost via his insurace company was nearly £35k !
£20k to repair the Cerb and nearly £15k on rental cars (of equivilent spec to the Cerb) whilst it was fixed in Blackpool (took 8 months hehe )

Paid around £3k in insurance, no claims myself.
But a third party claim that has just been closed (car repaired!) cost around £3k.

11k/7 years
claims: 1.6k, but got a CCJ due to insurer's incompetence in appearing at a court hearing, which naturally went against me as a result, then being unable to settle the ordered sum in time...

paid approx £15k over last 16 yrs

2 claims - just over a year apart

Boxster hit wet patch on road, decided to plough into barrier coming onto motorway. cost £12000.00
Was insured with £3b grocery company and near end of policy....couple mths later renewal for policy was expensive, so switched insurers.
Year later new insurer was expensive, previous insurer (grocery co) was best price so went back to them, 2 days into insured have a 50-50 claim..Cost approx £6000.00

Total approx 18k

Don't think they will insure me again, quotes always high since then..every little helps
