I have been maybe offered the chance to go there and have a few questions....

Is it expensive?

whats the rent like and the area like?

whats the location like?

Its a long term contract and they are offering 700-750 CHF per day, of which I will only get 65%, why is that? For a contract that is more of a permenant job pay in london (circa £271 a day).

So can I live there on that or am I going to be pushing it if i want to come back to london every couple of weeks or bring the OH out to Geneva?

Any help appreciated.

My best man went out there working on CERN. He bought a house on the french alps border (? I think - the national park starts at the end of his garden) and that is now his home, so I guess he thinks it's a pretty good place to live. I must confess I've not spoken to him for a couple of years, so I've not much more detail than that though.

one thing I want to know is why I would only get 65% and can i set up a company to pay me (ltd) so I get more or is that not going to work?

I am far from an expert, but do you know what the 65% percent is - is it tax that is withheld because you are temporarily resident, but that you can claim back ?

very expensive to live\rent in Geneva - but they have changed the rules so you can now live in France (just over the border) and work in Geneva, so sure about tax implications.

They want someone who will live in the area and not be a monday to friday contractor.... Is it more expensive than London?

Does anyone know if I can take a car with me?

If so how long do I have to have owned it before i can take it and will I get charged stupid amounts to tkae it there?

My other halfs brother works in Geneva and lives in France (only 15 min commute into Geneva center) not sure how much rent would be i n Geneva itself but accom can be hard to find.

Can't see why it would be a problem taking your car.

It was more along the lines of picking up a car just after the job has been confirmed (exige or something similar sporty wise) and then enjoying it for a good 6months to a year and then flogging it on.
