The Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme gives MPs and members of the House of Lords a taste of the armed forces, to better enable them to understand how the armed forces work.

They spend a number of weeks with the unit of their choice and are treated as professional service men or women.

An admirable idea...

But some things are not meant to be...

....No, Mr Blunkett, Apache helicopter is out...getting silly

...Why not? The dog can sit in the back and tell me when to fire. Where's Cameron's house?

Any more bad combinations...?

I'd quite like to see Gordon Brown pushed out of the back of a plane. Is there a No-Parachute regiment?

Haha - I think the RMs would argue about that...

I think Brown should fight fire with fire and go to Afghanistan and blow himself up.

It's the Parachute Regiment. Can't afford parachutes these days!

Jumping out of a perfectly serviceable aeroplane is an highly unnatural act. Only birds and fairies have wings.

It's unnatural, but seriously good fun.

However, for MPs, throwing them out of the plane, with or without a parachute, would be more a hobby.....

I understand the Gurkhas have put in a special request for Gordon Brown.

I read that as "paramilitary" at first. Thought "at bloody last, the revolution's here".
