...I've provisionally been offered a job in Harrow On the Hill. My missus works in Monument.

In terms of a fair compromise between the 2 whats the best location to rent without getting mugged when we get off the train at night?

Due to my scottish blood budget really shouldn't exceed £800.00 pcm.

Ta very much.

Reading - it's obvious!

Joking apart - somewhere off the Jubilee might be a good compromise? I lived at Wembley Park for 18 months, it was actually a good place.

Kensal Rise/Green. Minutes from Queens Park and Notting Hill, very up and coming. A bit like NH used to be before it got all poncy.

LOL - Stanmore is not a bad idea! but not sure what you'll get for £800pcm near the station there maybe some nice 2 Bed maisonettes or one of the flats nearby. Harrow on the Hill Bus Station can be a bit of a nightmare - lots of fights in there, especially as school lets out. The Met line is also very fast so you can choose somewhere like North Harrow, Pinner etc. Then your OH can switch at Finchley Road for the Jubilee line.

Oooh Harrow Bus station, such a delightful place. Stanmore, won't get much for your money I wouldnt have thought?
Just incase you weren't aware, the Chiltern Express runs to Harrow on the Hill from Marylebone. Very quick service. Could expand your search a little more?

Tim.

Would'nt go to Harrow. First wife was but in hospital by some scumbags that tryed to swipe her handbag.

And this all happened at eight in the morning.no-one came to her rescue they just looked on hoping that if its happening to some-one else it wont happen to them.

This was in the early nineties though

£800 in the London area? yikes

You might get a small ex-local authority flat in Willesden. Make sure you have shotguns strategically located around the place though.

You don't say how large a property you're seeking, but I think you'll need to add an hour's train journey to your work detination for anything decent smile

Its not all that bad. To be honest, you'll get incidents like snatched purses happening pretty much anywhere at some point or another. Harrow is a pretty safe place generally - certainly much more so than places closer to town. My young BiL lives near me - He has a very nice spacious 2 Bed Maisonette for £810 per month just by Northwood Hills station - door to door, its less than an hour to Canary Wharf for him. Its a quiet street with pretty easy parking.

I'm thinking about Wembley Park at the moment. One bed flats close to the station seem to be going at between 700-800 pcm.

Be a little careful choosing which areas around the station. There used to be a big high rise estate that was mostly rebuilt a few years ago (chalk hill estate) - its still a bit iffy there. I'd look north of Wembley Park Drive - and even better, north of Forty Lane. The place will get busy when there are events at the stadium. On the plus side - there is a huge Asda, your close to Ikea - and Brent Cross for shopping - if you can pick up cheap tickets to events at Wembley Stadium or Arena you can pop over easily, there is also a TV studio there and you can pick up free audience tickets.
