Tandem skydive locations in the south?
Discussion
I've recently hit the big 3.0 and as a result my other half has kindly offered to throw me out of a plane....
I'm rather hopeful that some form of parachute will be involved and therefore wondered if any members here could recommend me a good "drop zone" in the south please?
Thanks in advance
Mike

i did a jump at netheraven and would also recommend it. prices are reasonable and they know what they're doing.
a bit of advice though; don't get your hopes up about jumping on a specific time or even day. i didn't realise before i went but they are very fickle about the weather (rightly so i'm sure from a safety perspective). If it's too cloudy - no jump. Raining hard - no jump. Too windy - no jump. With UK weather you can never really tell when you're going to get all the right conditions.
The point i'm trying to make amongst all the gobs
te is be prepared to be sat around waiting for a lot of the day - take some cards, book etc etc. I tried to do a jump once and i think i ended up waiting two days and then had to come back a week later before the conditions were right...

I did a few trips there when wifey did a tandem and I did a solo. The tandem was ok to go in iffy weather as the instructor is in charge of the jump - my solo I had to wait for perfect weather - thankfully so - but it was a beautiful sight once the parachute had opened, I could see as far as the IOWjmorgan said:

In my experience, a lot of DZ's (Skydive Centres) have a lot of attitude and bullsh!t, and don't give first timers the care they deserve, so it's nice to hear positive feedback.
I've never jumped at Netheraven, but I might take a trip down there sometime on the strength of the comment on this thread.

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...I've actually done a fair few jumps (150+ (I have my FAI licence)) but I might have to come down and witness the appropriate categorisation (men/mice) of the PH massive!!

I imagine that you will see a lot of tears in that plane as we all change our minds
