In these troubled times when all the news seem to carry are stories of scum, frauds, recession and unemployment, I watched this story on the BBC this morning and thought, what a thoroughly nice, down to earth guy.
Fair play to you fella

i think its a great idea, but i wondered if they would consider someone running the hotel etc on behalf of the charity and all the profits going to the charity.

mind the gubbermint probably has some rules so they can't do this and would lose their charitable status and all the money.

Wish I was in a position to do the same.

It does not work like that. Charities can operate businesses. But I think it sounds like he just wanted to sell it to release a large capital sum in order to purchase equipment and pay full time salaries for the organisation he supports.

Jolly good. He sounds like a really genuine philanhropist from what I have read/seen about him.
