just thought i'd share another tale of ebay muppetry....

were moving house in a few weeks (touch wood) so are disposing of unsuitable furniture through ebay (at least we were....)

One of the items we've sold is a fairly crappy ikea shelving unit that probably only cost 80 quid or so in the first place.... started the auction at a fiver and sold it for ... a fiver!

no worries - saves me a trip to the tip (i thought) - the first sign of muppetry from my buyer is that they paid through paypal rolleyes despite the list stating CASH ON COLLECTION - so that has further diminished the risible amount of cash gain we have for selling this item...

Oh well - never mind - so i contact the buyer who says "i can pick it up next weekend" (being the one just gone where the weather was really nice - ideal times for waiting in for some ebay fkhead no to show up.....

by now i'm starting to get the arse, but still send a neutrally toned mail requesting that they either pick up the item or it'll be going to the tip...

no contact until this morning, when i get the predictable mail:

Blah blah blah - family emergenic (sic) - couldnt get on net - do you still have item? or if not, please refund ASAP.

Now - as this dumb ass paid through paypal, can i just reject the payment?

I want to be able to neg her for messing us around, but am not sure if this can be done on an uncompleted transaction...

what would you lot do?

Am i being unreasonable?

have got a house move and a heavily pregnant wife - so this sort of bull st is most unwelcome to say the least....

mad

Maybe they had a genuine reason not to be able to collect it. You can do a refund with PayPal. In any case, you cannot leave negative feedback.

I had this recently with an old Punto cylinder head and a couple of tail lights.

Sold for a grand total of....

1p for BMW wing mirror
1p for Fiesta taillights
£9 for the cylinder head.

Stated Cash on collection.

Guy paypals it.

Paypal took both the 1p's and a proportion of the £9.

I rejected the lot and told the idiot to bring the money with him. laugh

He still didn't bring the exact money.

You have to offer Paypal as a means of payment (more loot for eBay) so I guess that if somebody uses it, it's too bad. You have to pay the 3.5%, post the goods, and then get the remaining 96.5% taken back by Paypal when the buyer whinges, as they inevitably will, because they want the goods AND the money.

You should have just chucked it on the bonfire. Ebay just isn´t worth the aggravation.

Count yourselves lucky, over the past week paypal have upheld a claim for some BMW parts I sold.............for almost double the amount the guy paid and they havent been recieved, then notified yesterday that somebody who won an auction for a rear bumper from an M3 isnt happy as he's damaged it trying to fit it onto a 318Ci............all up will have lost £350 thanks to theiving tts who dont understand that a used car part is exactly that used!

You can refund the payment by paypal and lose nothing yourself. Go into the payment details and you can do it from there.

Hope you get house and wife sorted, for sake of getting rid of stuff like this freecycle is much better than ebay- and so are the people.

On the "family emergency" front, do youthink it may be true? Of course he may be lying, but I had a buyer say somebody in his family had died and he didn't have time to get onto the net, could I wait until Friday for him to pay? Due to his poorly worded English I assumed he was a scammer, but I waited till the Friday and he sent the full £240 through, and said if I had any similar items he'd be more than willing to buy them next time!

Only thing I hate about eBay is their fking rip off 10% commission.

chest size does not equate to bust size...

Go for a spandex mix of around 20% and you'll be fine.
