Well, not proper organised crime. Best we can do is some East End cheekie chappie types and maybe a transplanted Yardie or two.

Other countries have proper gangs / mafias / cartels/ etc.

Why don't the Brits?

...depends what part of Britain you're talking about and what you mean by 'British'.

Do the acronyms UVF and UDA mean anything to you, or, to stretch a point the (P)IRA and other such 'invisible and unreported' organised criminal groups not count as 'British' if they're within the UK as well as the Cosa MossSide and Yakusarf'lunnun?

Because the last Brit to ask 'Do ya wanna be in my gang' got locked up for kiddie fiddling.

Manchester certainly has its share, if you have trouble its pointless calling the police when the Noonan family will look after you instead. They are pretty much in jail or dead now but people still operate under the Noonan name.

There's the Cheetham Hill gang if you want racketeering or women, Gooch gang if you want drugs or guns. Either will kill in a heartbeat.

To have organised crime you need a large number of smart, corrupt people.

All our smart, corrupt people are in the House of Commons (and now Lords as well)

So the Noonnan's controlled doormen and sold hooky weapons and - according to the wiki link - developed ties with the underworld of ..... Leamington Spa! Still a bit junior league isn't it.

Show's how much you know. The House of Commons is just a front to the world of real crime.

Dessie was one of the nicest guys I've ever met.
I used to drink with him and Dom in the Jolly Carter in Droylsden.

RIP Des. frown

Hi Dom if you're reading, you big fairy.

Simple. Organised crime requires people to be organised. This is why there is no organised crime in Britian.
