Just moved in problem with neighbour
Discussion
We moved last week into a new house. House has been empty for a while
We have a double garage and drive that is gated. As with most modern estates the roads are quite narrow.
Next to the house is 3 town houses all of which have a garage and drive space for two cars.
All of the town houses insist on using the road for parking with only a couple of cars using their drives
However d
head in middle house refuses to use his drive preferring to park outside our dining room window. He has a car and his son has a car. It started his son parking outside.
I had been watching these for a few days, trying to work out whos car is who's/, and then tried to speak to the lad, who ignored me completly.
He then changed to parking on the other side of the road opposite our front door, which causes problems for us getting into the drive. we can still get in but not straight forward.
Then on Tuesday I went out to speak to the lad when he parked up. Spoke nicely to him asking why he needed to park there despite plenty of parking outside his house and on his drive, which he then ranted at me saying "I perfectly legally entitled to park here, my dad is a Police officer and he can get his van out there, you can't say anything to me blah blah"
I was just gobsmacked and didn't want an arguement so said, "asked nicely and you don't want to be curtious to neighbour" and walked away.
Next day when we got home from work, his dads car was then parked further back on the other side of the road again hindering our access more than before. No other cars outside his house or on his driveway.
Then the following day he parked even further back, so much so my wife couldn't easily get her car in. So she went round to his house and asked to move his car, which he said he is legally entitled to park there, he can't park anywhere else due to being close to a bend, and will not move his car or park it anywhere else to make it easier for us! and that he could get his Police Van out of there, which I guess he could as he would be happy to bounce a van up and down the kerb. He has a really arsy and arragent attitude.
Then he said to my Wife that I had been starring at his 14yo daughter!!!!!!!!!!!
Really stuck now. Since Thursday I have left my car outside our house to stop him parking where it causes us problems. I didn't even know he had a daughter. I got back last night to see he had parked 1" from the boot of my car so back outside our dining room window, with no cars outside his house or the drive.
My wife wants to put a complaint into Police HQ about his allegation about his daughter. But I know I haven't seen his daughter so it doesn't bother me. But his insistance on parking outside our house to delibratly cause us hassles I do not understand.

What they said. I despise inconsiderate people as much as MPs and benefits scum. I'd be looking at blocking their cars so they can't move them. You're entitled to etc. Actually, why not park off the drive in the space their scum parks in?

Hitch his car up. (Tow rope or chain) Drag it in the street. Phone the police and complain about his parking.
As said above, buy a banger but also buy a shed on wheels (Caravan) hitch it up and park it outside his house.
Go round with a beer and try to sort it out without hassle. I know you have tried but the man is a cock.
Good luck,

Ooooh this is a tricky one.
If he is a police officer then he should be an approachable and receptive and if not then his superiors should be written to, but...
This could open up a can of worms and he could make your life hell.
My own opinion would be to invite him and his family around for a bbq, briefly run over the parking issue..explaining that you all have to live together (you being a reasonable chap) and live happily ever after.
Are you renting par chance?

In many respects I'd agree with her. I wouldn't put in a complaint but I'd send something in writing to the Chief Constable noting what has happened, date and time etc.. and the fact that you've never seen his daughter, and I'd send that recorded delivery so you can prove it has arrived. Just in case he tries to do something stupid with it. After all, a half bent cop can really screw things up for you. Be grateful your DNA is not on the databse because you could be f***ed..... [/paranoid Mode Off]
And as I said, I'd get a dictaphone and record future conversations, to be on the safe side.
you just need to ignore until they give up... they know they're annoying you and that is the only reason they keep doing it.
just forget about it.
Or..... hire a f**king big van from a reputable company, take all the insurance you can, and wipe out both cars of an evening. No cost to you, major irritance for them.

Park outside his house. Get a few old bangers and park them there too ( get them at auction, as long as they are taxed and ticketed, they can park there).......
I'd also get a dictaphone and record his conversation in future in case you need it.
just get 1 old car, register it in neighbours name and wait a week or two before parking it outside his house, then throw the keys away.I'd also get a dictaphone and record his conversation in future in case you need it.
I'd be inclined to persist with the pleasant attitude for a bit and bite your lip.
If he does persist to be a deliberate idiot then I'd go and have a quiet word with him, maybe outlining the fact that you'd expect a better attitude from a police officer given that you have been perfectly amicable over the matter so far.
Cross the next bridge if you come to it, which hopefully you won't...

We have a similar situation brewing - we are next door to 2 large detached houses which each have a garage and driveway space for 2 cars (3 at a push). I have lots of cars, and a long narrow drive, which is my problem entirely, but sometimes it would be useful to park one car on the road. However both the neighbours insist on parking on the road opposite their houses and next door in particular like to park such that there is half a wasted space in front of her. She will also park virtually touching any other car that uses "her" space.
I took her to task (politely) on this and she insists that she only parks there because her car leaks oil and she can't put it on the drive. Interestingly she declined my offer to fix the oil leak
So my approach is first come first served, and so I stick my car in "her" space from time to time and she seems to have got the message. But it baffles me why both these houses (in which there are 2 adults and 2 cars) prefer to park on the road than on their drive.
My fallback plan involves my mate, his HIAB HGV flatbed recovery truck and a large number of taxed and tested s
tboxes that are usually knocking around his yard...

I'd pay a scally a few quid to come along in a "borrowed" flatbed truck and total all his cars.
He'll then realise how inconvenient parking on the road is.
obviously I'm never going to be in this situation so the above won't be happening

Buy a couple of bangers would be my solution.
