Being a drunken romantic fool, spent a small fortune on two tickets for opening day at Ascot in a charity auction as that date (16th June)is our anniversary. Now it appears work comittments mean it's unlikely I can go.What's the best way to get rid at a decent price? The guy who kindly put them up for auction is a bit concerned about me putting them on E-bay, any other ideas, or someone want to make an offer?
And by that I don't mean "I'll sort the wife out for you" !!1

Nope, you've lost me, he gets them through work as a freebie, just wouldn't look good if they were seen to be being sold for a profit on Ebay.He gave up his chance to go, to raise money for a good cause,so maybe you'd like to explain?

The irony is that you bought at an auction and now wish to sell them at an auction, but the chap you bought them from is frowning at you.

FFS I've said I don't want to put on them on E-bay. He's not frowning. Read it again, I didn't buy them from him, I bought them at a fundraising auction, that we were both at. He made zilch out of it,I probably now can't go and I'd rather lose the tickets than resell on Ebay if it then looks bad on him.

Edited because I've deleted the swear words!

Not really a serious enquiry (unless you're practically giving them away) but what do you want for the pair? My missus has been on at me about going to the races for donkeys (ho ho) years.

If you dont want to lose money on them Ebay is probably the only realistic option, unless you have someone you know who wants them.

What are they box tickets, Silver Ring or Grand Stand tickets and for what day?

But as far as I am aware they haven't fully sold out yet, so dont expect to make much more than ticket value.

Struggling to see where you made it clear that you didn't want to Ebay them. With or without swear words.

Why not just throw them away? The charity still gets their cash whether you go or not.

No you misunderstand. If they get sold on e-bay rather than at auction either now or originally, it would look like the guy was trying to profit from the tickets,(from what I can gather they can be traced to him),when nothing could be further from the truth. The profit for the charity (I paid £250)was made at the auction.

rolleyesO.K. I didn't say I wanted to put them on E-bay, I said the guy was a bit concerned about me putting them on there.I didn't say I wanted to, I didn't even say I'd suggested it.It was his immediate thought to suggest that, until he had second thoughts about it.I don't have a problem with it, and I've said I'd rather lose them than possibly drop him in it for no reason.Maybe for the pedantic/holier than thou/nothing better to do than be a condescending dick types on here that explains it enough for you.But well done for jumping to so many conclusions. Now I'll jump to one, you wear shoe inserts to make yourself look taller.
