Its not even 2 years old and servis, what could be up?
It drains fine, etc.... just started not to like the idea of washing clothes it seems?

Shouldn't the thread title be NOT spinning...........
Yep... Im an idiot, but you lot knew that.
I blame the action packed day of work, go to 2nd interview, pass it get a 3rd for tomorrow, go back to work, finish at 6pm join the team for 2 drinks, get home, eat, revise, then try and wash a shirt for tomorrow (today was supposed to be the last interview so all nice shirts ready to wash), then spot machine f
king about and still need to spin cycle and iron dry whilst doing revision....Phew...
NOw just need to get through tomorrow and see if i have a new job, then maybe off to paris for training....
too knackering!!!

I know nothing, but I'm going to guess at a belt slipping!
It takes more force to turn a filled drum (washing) than an empty one (spinning). When you start a wash cycle, does the drum turn whilst the machine is filling? If it does but then stops later when it's full then the slipping belt/knackered motor theory is looking good.Slightly off-topic but I've just had some joy with Comet and our shockigly sh**e Haier!
It's a 20month old machine with no extended warranty and on spin the drum bearings would mute the space shuttle taking off - i.e. they are f
ked.
The 4 different operators I spoke to on the customer helpline would not give any leeway - no extended warranty - no hope.
So, 3 weeks ago I sent Comet a letter based on the template on Consumer Direct that states that "the sale of goods act 1979 makes it an implied term of contract that goods be fit for purpose, yada yada yada" and that 20 months was not acceptable.
It got to a director at Comet HQ (hull) who sent an engineer out for a FOC inspection who agreed that the drum bearings were shot and the motor needs replacing.
Then, this week they ring to say we can exchange for a new washing machine - I'm going in on saturday to discuss options.
Result!
By the way, my housemate bought the washing machine - I would have stayed well clear - but I can't complain at a free replacement after just under 2 years!

k all for 5-10 mins.... but even sodden the spin cycle kicks off straight away full of clothes which is the strange thing?ypauly said:
have you cleaned the filter at the bottom, it could be waiting for the water to empty before spinning
that may be why it works if you just put stuff in to spin
had the same problem till i had removed my sock from the rubber hose in front on the filter
filter all drained and done.... loads of water came out but nothing blocking...that may be why it works if you just put stuff in to spin
