My grandad was 'knocked' for some tickets when he was in America and has been given the run around for months still waiting for a refund from an individual.

I am asking for help in drafting a good, professional letter to make him pay - can anyone help?

Here's what I have so far:

RE: Mr xxxxxxxxx REF# 264-596-04

Dear Mr xxxxx,

I am writing to inform you that we have been instructed by Mr xxxxx to recover in full a debt of $xxxxx.

From the evidence put before us you seem to have been given many opportunities to settle however Mr xxxxx has yet to receive the full funds.

From this date xxxxxxxx Ltd have been instructed to retrieve this debt and will be in contact with you in the coming weeks.

We are asking for full payment to be made to Mr xxxx by the 31st July.

If full payment is not made we have no option than to proceed with legal action of which you will be billed at the full amount PLUS our costs.

Best regards,

Anything else that sounds good / might get him to pull his finger out?

TIA

I suggest maybe a less threatening letter to start, then if no response send this letter. It may get there backs up and seeing as they are Yanks are well versed to litigation. shoot

Try the nice British stiff upper lip reserve first.

Besides, for you to bring a case to court in the US will cost a fortune!

Sorry - he paid for some tickets for an event and never got any. The chap has given some of the money back but not all. He has promised and promised but nothing - even got a cheque for the full amount but it bounced.

This is really the last option. He was going to leave it however I said I would try and help by making out that I am a debt collection agency etc etc...

Forget impersonating with threating behaviour and go the small claims court with costa awarded send in bailiffs if no payment ( cost of bailiffs to be added to the claim) and then if no result, attache a lien to property, if there is any.judge

What, the American small claims court?

Tickets for what country? Where's the company based. Is the $xxxxx in the right area of cost or is it $xxx or $xxxx?
