Ebay - pathetic buyers?

Hello all. Not sure where to put this so the general none car chat lounge seems like the best place...
Anyway, my Mom has recently had a house clearout, and is selling things on Ebay. Now we are not con artists
and describe things honestly etc. Everything was going OK until we sold a pair of Nike trainers on there, which had genuinely only been used a handful of times. I'd say maximum 3 times. I would give them condition wise a 8.5/10 as they are as new.
Anyway the description of the auction read something along the lines of "These shoes have been used but only a very few times and are in good condition have not seen much use, but please remember are still worn" note how my Mom just said good condition, not amazing condition, even though they are as new...
So they were sold, buyer paid, we sent the shoes, all was good up until tonight Mom received an email saying that there was a small scuff mark on the bottom on the shoe and the guy wanted a refund.
What the hell? We described them clearly as used and in good condition, how can the buyer then turn around and say he wants a refund?
Oh and to make things even more pathetic, the shoes only ended up going for £9.50, they cost about £50 a few years ago! Why would anyone moan about shoes that cost less than a tenner and are clearly advertised as used?

Ebay is full of idiots. This is why I rarely sell on there anymore.
I once bought a set of alloys off of ebay, described as having a few minor kerb marks. I drove all the way to collect them to find that all 4 were 95% kerbed (the crap pics didn't show this so I went with his description), and one tyre had 2 nails in it.
The guy got quite iffy when I told him to stick it, moaning on that I had entered into a legal contract to buy them and that he would be leaving feedback (back in the days when you could neg a buyer) saying I was a timewaster.

That's what I was thinking. I've sold a couple of things on eBay, one was a very smooth transaction, after having to relist because the buyer ignored me. The other was OK, but I had to wait for nearly a month for the Paypal funds to clear into my bank account. The majority of the people on there are morons. k would care about a scuff on the bottom of a shoe, more to the point. I have seen alot worse from sellers.
I bought a phone that was claimed to be "as new"

I checked the counter on the phone and it had been calling for over 200 hours!
The phone was blatantly used for a year or so and a new casing was put on it in an attempt to make it look new again and pass it off as brand new.

They weren't a set of OZ Superleggeras in 7.5J 17" 4x100 were they, sound EXACTLY the same as some a mate of mine went to buy from Ebay!

Not according to eBay/Paypal - they'll happily refund even if the buyer hasn't returned the good - I know this from bitter experience.But he MUST send them back to get the refund.

Have you actually e mailed the prick, to remind him that they ARE used, and ARE worn?What size are these trainers?
I have to agree, most of the buyers (and sellers) on Ebay are scrotes. However, this year we are going to Le Mans via Ebay. All our GE and camping passes have come from Ebay. I check out the the sellers feedback before bidding/buy it now. Half the time the sellers are a load of wideboys selling tat.
Surely there is a market opportunity here from a new type of auction site that doesn't allow scotes?

I realise the OP is one of the few genuine sellers out there and is getting ripped off by a scrote and is not themselves a scrote.
