Hi all, it's a nice saturday, I don't have to go to work for another 36 hours, and I'm bored stupid. I've pretty much had to stop my main hobby, working on my cars in the garage, as I can't afford to keep spending the money on parts etc and not get anything back from it (depreciation on performance parts is staggering!). Plus it's a very solitary pursuit which is a bit unfair on the wife and I'm pretty bored of spending all my time in a garage with the radio for company!

Neither of us are heavy drinkers, and we're not sports fans at all, so we're looking for something to do that is more entertaining than TV and involves some social interaction. (NOT SWINGING!) A lot of our friends are turning 30, settling down with kids etc, we will be going the same route in a year or two, but want to have some fun beforehand and meet some new people (again . . . NOT SWINGING!)

So, when 5 o'clock on a Friday rolls around, what are you fired up about doing over the weekend?

(PS: I realise the irony of posting this on a Saturday, when anyone who has an exciting fun-packed weekend will probably not be anywhere near a keyboard biggrin )

I get home from Baku on thurs 18th June, first weekend I am competing at Doune Hillclimb, next weekend it is Forrestburn Hillclimb, the following weekend it is Alford Sprint and the next it is the Boyndie Sprint, then I am back to Baku again.

I suggest stop using working on a car as the hobby and make driving tha car the hobby, get awy to grass roots motor events with your wife, either compete or you will be made very welcome as marshals, you will get a new circle of friends (no jokes about how to widen the circle of your friends) and have a load of fun.

Or you could change your ways and become a heavy drinker, or swinger wink

Sounds like you two are just boring.

Maybe just do what your missus does during the week and have an affair.

I was very surprised to find that when I finished my last hot rod my wife was more than happy to go out in it if ever I went somewhere.

Building it was a bit different, like having a mistress: wifey hated every minute I spent in 'that garage'.

Go ou on bike rides.
Take the car out for a drive & find a new pub somewhere
Find a hobby that involves other people
Go for a walk
Do a day abseiling / sailing / canoeing etc

Etc, etc, etc

I can't believe you are asking this to be honest. You sound like my 5 year old when he says "I'm boooooored".

There are literally hundred of thousands of things you can do at weekends. You only get one shot at this life, so get off your arse, stop moaning & get out & enjoy youselves

Swinging might suit you. It's more interesting than TV and involves alot of social interaction.

ETA: I phrased that completely wrong first time round...

Take the dogs out for a long walk.

Do maintenance on the fish tanks. Do the housework (it's thrilling, my life). And do a bit of work.

Get a tent and google an area within 1.5hrs drive and find a campsite. Go for o/night stay, gets you out of the house and visiting different areas (or find a cheapish b&b). Granted not such nice weather this weekend for camping.

We have the same prob, most friends have kids, we don't as yet, so their weekends now taken up on trips out with their children.

We have a dog so we do try and find nice places to take him for a walk.

If you have a garden do a bit of work in it, doesn't have to be a major landscaping project or expensive.

Find local attractions, how often do you ever go to a local museum etc. We've done this a couple of times it's quite good.

In a couple of weeks we're off down to Brixham (my parents live there) for Trawler Race Day. Just hope the weather is good.

Locally there is usually some festival or other on. Admittedly we don't go to them all and this weekend we've not much planned, it's good to have quiet weekends as well.

Hope that helps a bit.

auto-erotic asphyxiation is possibly worth taking up, although please do mind your step.

Make babies.

Then your weekends, evenings and nights will be full and you'll wish you'd gone for a nice walk.

To a great extent, at least one day I use to recover from whatever I've been doing during the week. Although if you don't do much during the week, you probably don't need to do that.

If you're near London and bored, the best free entertainment I can recommend is Speaker's Corner on a Sunday lunchtime through afternoon. It's very variable but brilliant nonetheless. The best regular is a short and ugly bald man who gives rather eloquent lectures on the correct role of women (kitchen, primarily), usually with a few american birds with no sense of humour taking him seriously and trying to debate the relative merits of feminism.

One thing I would not recommend is the Tate Modern. It's st.

Amazed you can't find *something* to do though. How about joining some kind of club?
