The biggest naval armada in history with nearly a million soldiers, sailors and airmen of countless countries. Even more incredible is the deception plan behind it; an entire phantom army was created to fool the Germans into thinking the landing would come in the Calais region

Not exactly, about 156,000 took part in the first wave.

The word heroes is bandied around a lot these days but it doesn't do those soldiers justice.
