Not much on the way of suits on the search function. So I'll start a new thread.

Ok, Got an interview tomorrow so wondering what suit to wear. I normally wear a black 2 piece with close faded pinstrips my 'interview suit', which I've wore to 3 interviews before and been successful. I purchased a new suit recently very similar to this one worn by Redknapper (on the right):

I was thinking a little too 'flashy' though, so I'll be keeping to the old faithful. I wonder what you guys thought's are on dressing techniques for interview, colour of suit etc?

Black suit, nice subtle tie, black polished loakes, decent set of subtle cufflinks, nice dress watch.

Job done. (see what I did there)

For an interview I'd always go with either a plain charcoal grey suit, or maybe a navy chalkstripe one.

White shirt (decent cotton one, not an old poly-cotton school shirt!)
A plain / sensible tie (of a normal size not that bootlace 80's throwback the bloke in the pic is wearing wink)
Polished black shoes (lace-up)& plain black socks

I'd personally stay away from the liht grey suit or anything "fashion" (hehe) unless you know exactly who's sitting on your interview panel...

I have seen beter quality jackets from Asda, the cut and quality of that jacket are truely awfull.

Agreed, looks too 'sharp' and skinny, although at least the lapels aren't peaked. Three button is considered more formal than two button, and looks smarter in my opinion. Go dark suit, white shirt, tie with plenty of red in it.

Do not wear anything shiny. Shiny suits are bad. No shiny suits please. Suits made from cloth that gives off a sheen do not work in any interview situation (except maybe car salesmen and estate agents).

I think the general view is that navy and grey are the best basic colours to start with for suits.

I think black looks a bit too much like you are attending a funeral, but with a pinstripe could be ok.

I would go for a grey or navy suit, plain white / night blue / pink shirt and good quality silk tie in simple pattern (or plain).
Black lace up polished shoes - oxford or brogue
If wearing cufflinks - plain silver (or steel) in simple design

Thanks Guy's.

Ok so far I have:

Black 3 Button with faded p/stripe.
White TB&Asser Shirt with subtle cufflinks
Formal Watch
Oxford style polished shoes
Tie - No Red Ties or any with red in them. Wore a gold with white RL tie to my interview for my current job, however think it was a tad over the top so I'll see what I have in my tie drawer wink

Off to NY on Wednesday for 10 days so hopefully the news is good when I return! smile

I agree, I have been both of those things and never once have I deviated from a normal suit.
