Never used EBAY before for anything.

There is a car on there at the moment. That I missed out on last year. The reserve has been met, and the But It Now option has gone.

The auction has two days to run. What is the best method for making sure I win the car?. Not placed a bid yet. In a hope to keep the price low.

Go in at the last five mins?

last 5 seconds really.

Bidding before then gives people time to reconsider, and add a few more quid onto their bid.
If you do a last second snipe with your absolute max, then you'll either get it, or be glad you didn't pay any more for it

Bid what you would be happy to pay for it.

If you get beat well then the other bloke paid too much.

Yep. I don't want to get beaten by a £1 though.

Heard something about sniper bots. That bid a bit more than anyone else. Where can I get one of these?

It's a car, so the increments won't be one pound. Unless it's a tenner or so.
Bid what you are prepared to pay and walk away.

If you win well, the YOU paid too much. So we're all doomed!

It's at £800 at the mo. On a car that would make 2k tops if totally mint. Which it ain't I just want. Just don't want to get beaten by a silly amount.

Decide what the absolute maximum you will pay is (including the £1 you dont want to lose it by) and place the bid in the last 30 seconds or so.

I think its over a grand that it starts going up in 50 quid increments. So if you do get beaten at least it won't be by a quid. If you really want to tickle the blokes widget, why don't you email or call him and ask him what cash price he'd take to end the car now? I had loads of people asking me when I was selling mine.

Exactly what I do. As said further on though Sniping software is great if you are to around to place a bid.

If it's £2k target then perhaps a bid of £2100 in the last minute will give you a good chance.

if it go's for more than that, well, at least some other guy wanted it more desperately than you.

Bid a huge amount like £500-£1000 over what you think it will go for and end up overpaying, if it is that rare then it will be worth it in the long run.

Really depends how rare it is, if its a common car then I wouldn't do the above but if it was something tat I didn't think I could afford to miss, then I would employ the above method..

A tip I use is to bid odd amounts that other people won't think of, so if it's £800, say the next person has bid £850 tops, instead of bidding £850, bid £854 etc.....
