We all hate being asked to part with our cash for Charity, when we'd rather spend it on Optimax, but as a long member of PistonHeads I know how you guys pull through for Charity. Weve just seen over £10k raised for Help the Heroes, and I wish I could organise something on the same scale, and I will try, but for now, I have entered the Leeds 10k.
Now I know your all thinking 'Its hardly a Marathon?', but bear in mind I drive everywhere, never done any running in my life, and had 8 weeks to train. But its what follows thats important;
Brain, former employee of mine, and longtime friend, was diagnosed with Luekeamia just before Christmas. He had been fit all his life, not smoking or drinking in excess, and at 62, was still laying concrete when I (25 at the time!) was knackered. It makes no difference who you are, how fit you are, or any other reason. Brian was treated at the new Bexley Wing, at St James, Leeds. This wing is possible because of the Charitable donations recieved through several Cancer Charities. Its wholy down to this wing, and the Staff within it, that Brian is still here today. Almost fully recovered after dropping to 8 stone (He's 5'10!), Brian shows us all why we should support this charity.
Now Im not asking for much, but let me phrase it like this; "would you buy me a pint if I ran 10k for the Yorkshire Cancer Centre?". If the answers yes, goto www.justgiving.com/craigetimmins and sponsor me just £2. this will just about cover a pint, but will go straight to charity, and also get Gift Aid back from this wretched government, and give it to charity.
Again, Im not after a lot, just a pint, if everyone gives a pint, then Ill easily hit my target.

So in these times of hardship, credit crunch, and general depression, spare a thought for those who aren't here, who could be here, if we all donated that pint. Please give generously.

Many Thanks,

Craige.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Leeds Teaching Hospital Special Trustees gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
