How much will it cost the country when the Queen hands her notice in? Changing money (and how long does the old money remain valid for)...Stamps...Other stuff…
I don't think it makes any difference. If postage if 50p and you've paid 50p for a stamp, it doesn't matter whose head is on it. QE2 will gradually fade out and KC3 will gradually fade in.EINSIGN said:
And is there a possibility she has remained in power all these years simply because of what it would cost?
As above, if it is phased in I don't see any great cost all - probably less than HM Govt wastes before Monday coffee-time.Just be grateful you don't have Gordon Brown's ugly mug on everything :shudder:

He'll die before his mother, bet you a tenner.
Make it £20. If only cos he's wants to 'get out' before Harrys DNA paternity test result come back.
see, not at all alike... at all... nope.

I'll be expecting M15 bursting through the door in a FIAT Panda tonight......and for clarification, I will die in a nasty head on sofa accident with my telly. That is MY prediction.

Also...what are the chances of Charles actually becoming King??
If his mother dies before he does, 100%.jammiedodger26 said:
Surely he'll be advised to turn it down because the cost of him becoming King for what could a short while would be enormous?
It's never been an issue before. I find the question quite silly. If the cost to change monarchs was 'prohibitive' we'd still have King Ethelred the Unready. It would, however, save the country a bloody fortune if the House of Commons and all the politcians were disbanded and made unemployed, and the monarch made the decisions as a benevolent dictator.
