with cancer.

She was diagnosed with lung cancer last November and was told she had less than a year. She was ready to fight it and prove the doctors wrong. She fought hard but ultimately lost.

I implore any smokers to try and quit as soon as possible. Cancer is such a fking disease.

Lost my dad to the same thing last year. Started in his prostate, had a course of radiotherapy which they thought would have got rid of it. Seemed okay for a while and then collapsed and spent three years ill on and off; in the end it had spread pretty much everywhere, into his bones in his chest, legs, hips etc. You have my sympathy mate, and I agree, cancer is fking horrible. Best wishes to you and your family.

Condolences.
The wife and I (and father-in-law) have been trying for years to my mother-in-law to quit. No joy yet.

Lost 3 of my four Grandparents to some form of cancer (although one was in the late 60's, so I didn't know him) Its a horrible, horrible thing for everyone involved. Sorry to hear of your loss mate.

Really sad for you and your family. The threat of disease was one of the major factors that allowed me to give up a couple of years ago.

Thoughts are with you. Lost my Uncle this time last year to lung and bone cancer, he died within 4 weeks of diagnosis. He started smoking after losing his 2nd wife to double cardiac arrest (they'd only been married a yr) he lost his 1st wife (my aunt, my mums sister) to breast cancer a few years before that.

Smoking became a release for him but ultimately it contributed to his death.

Cancer is such a vile disease, sounds like your Mum put a brave fight on with it though. You have my sympathies.

Thanks for your comments everyone.

It hurts to see your mum slide in to a state where they don't know who you are or where they are and become just a breathing skeleton. The fallout for the family is devastating.

My father in law died yesterday, collapsed on the golf course - I hope he was ahead at the time.

So sad to hear of your loss Ozone frown

I know it's not much consolation, but be thankful for the years you had, not mournful for your loss

Hope your pain eases in the months ahead
