I need a 5 kg package collected from Ireland (not Northern Ireland) and delivered to me in London.

Looking at Parcel2Go's Parcelforce rates, UK to Ireland is £13.99, but Ireland to UK is £82.34.

Anyone know of a reasonably-priced alternative?

I have used Nolan transport (based in Rep. Of Ireland) in the past http://82.141.202.141/contents/home.asp and found them very reasonable for packages to UK and further into Europe. They usually prefer to deal in full palets, however if you are in no rush you could ask them to maybe hold it, untill they have other goods coming to your general area and you may get a better deal.

Do DHL and the usual lot not operate in the same way in Ireland? There is a huge discrepancy in prices.

Interparcel.com do an import service, depending on size its around 35.00

Not sure why sending from Ireland is more expensive than sending to tho

Thanks, I'd missed that on the Interparcel site. Persuaded the seller to go to the post office, so An Post it is.

I've had to deal with this before, apparently the difference in price is because items from Britain to Ireland are shipped, but from Ireland to Britain they're flown. No idea why though.

DHL charge me about €60 for large letter (guessing 500gms) from Dublin to Ireland overnight delivery.

Post from Ireland to UK is about 2/3 days and generally efficient enough.

I have parcels delivered to me in the UK from Eire every week. I use TNT. Maybe you could give them a call.
