I listen to 5 Live, but gets a bit crap in the afternoons, I don't like listening to sport, just wondered if you guys could recommend any decent topical talk radio stations.

Radio 4?

It's the most popular station on Reciva worldwide.

LBC 97.3FM.

Quality varies throughout the day, mind. Some of the topics are depressing in that you realise that either
1) it's a case of people complaining about said topic's content in the hopeless realisation that normal members of the public can do no more than rant or give their own opinion but not affect the outcome of an event eg tube strike.
2) it's a topic about which few of the listeners really have a clue and are just airing their worthless opinion (what do I mean by worthless opinion? I could give my opinion on the best time to plant bergonias and because I know jackst about bergonias my opinion is definitely worthless wrt bergonias).

That is a bit like LBC but some of the programmes are a bit "community" and there seems to be an emphasis on London as an Afro-Caribbean city. Since listening to it, I've learnt a lot about "black culture". I'm not saying it's a bad thing. They also have music programmes which may not be what the OPer wants. Last time I listened on a Saturday, there was what sounded like a 2 hour reggae show.

Wish I was in a minority; you get all sorts of stuff.

I may move to Tehran and start 'White Christian Radio'. Probably get killed inside an hour.

There's no London Chinese radio station for me. That said, I wouldn't listen to it. I don't want to hear Chinese pop stars singing 80s style music with American accents. Or even worse, rapping to 80s style music.

I like the perfect 10 by Phil and Phill pod-casts. Not talk-radio, but they do pass the time.

I miss LBC now ive moved up North.

Great in the morning. Goes a bit boring around mid day and then was great when Ian Lee came on around 4pm. This is a few years back now though :-)

I think it's James Whale around that time.

Can't you listen online?
