The thread with the pesky fox just got me thinking. Despite all the inherent problems the fox brings I couldn't bring myself to kill an animal. In fact, I couldn't even kill an ant!

I remember stepping on a spider when I was a kid and my Father said 'never take what you cannot give back!'

Thankfully my first girlfriend's dad never told her the same thing!! We would never have got anywhere.

Sorry thats totally off topic.

I seriously try not to kill animals these days (ie Bunnies in the road on early morning hoons) but if its them or an oak tree... I'm taking the Brer Rabbit out, sorry frown

Killed loads. Nothing more therapeutic than hitting the countryside with a shotgun and blasting some rabbits to oblivion. Foxes too if you can get close enough, crows, pigeons.
Never been fishing but I'd love to kill a fish in cold blood, something primeval about pitting your might against a fish hooked on a line, out of water.

I prefer not to. But if it came to food or the bunny, the bunny gets it.

Yes. I have many times before. Nothing special. Kill to eat. That includes some animal that will eat your food if you don't kill it.

OP, I guess that you are a townie?

Yep, and I don't see any difference between killing for entertainment or food. In the end the animal ends up dead so the reason it reaches that state is pretty irrelevant IHMO.

So food, fur coats, medical research, fox hunting, dog fight are pretty much the same thing.

It's going to make your new career as a castaway on a desert island pretty short!

Yes, have done many times, in fact I'd have no problem getting rid of half the humam race so a fox would be no problem.

Yes, I can and have euthanased incurably ill or injured pigeons, using a method which I would be happy to have used on myself (splatting the head so the brain is destroyed before it can register the pain).

Any other reason than euthanasia or food is entirely unacceptable and should carry a mandatory prison sentence.

Anyone who kills for entertainment is a sick fk.

As it happened I put a fox that was hit by a car to sleep the other day. So yes. not to mention the many other things I have shot in the past.
