Before those fking scum sucking low life fking ing self serving control freaking funcking wky y pissflappy aholes who call themselves our fking leaders who aren't fit to lick the puss from the distended anus of a AIDs ridden baboon make them illegal i want to buy an air rifle.

It will be used for feeding the dogs and ourselves from our land which is about 2 acres in the country so mostly for bagging bunnys and the occasional pheasant that might wander into the garden

Budget unknown as i don't know what you have to spend to get something decent

You can get something decent from 150 quid up, probably even less.

I've got a Weirauch HW90, forget what scope's on it, about 320 notes plus scope (80 odd I think). P'raps a bit more than you're looking at spending, but it's a cracking gun.

If it's just for occasional use then a springer will be best. Weihrauch are well respected for the type of shooting that you want. Airgunbbs is a good site with a sales forum. Decent second hand set up with a sight and case would be circa £250.

As said above, you won't go wrong with those.

I wouldn't be shooting pheasants just yet though, or with an air rifle

Have a Theoben Evolution, superb gun, gas ram so no spring to worry about weakening (it will happen) and very very well balanced csot £350 + scope (£80ish for a good one). Try Weldon Gun Rooms, cracking little place and very helpful.

I got my Cometa 300 for £120. Full power spring (12 lbs/in) so can easily kill rabbits etc. Great rifle if you arn't looking to spend much.

I would say that Weihrauch are probably the best out there for quality and at a reasonable price. I don't have one having gone the pre-charged route which is quite an expensive set up in comparison.

Weihrauch HW77K (if they still do them) - fantastic little rifle that would be ideal for what you are doing.

Personally, I prefered a .177 pellet rather than a .22. Just as good for bunnies etc, but with a flatter trajectory smile

What legalities are there to owning an air rifle? Do you need a license? Where can you get them and the ammo?

My old man used to have one, and I've got a fairly long garden and have thought about getting an air rifle for target practice.

No restrictions at the moment other than age.

I would say though that if you live in a street with neighbours, you might hack them off by firing a rifle. Neighbours with young kids (for example) would be anxious about a rifle being used in close proximity - I'd understand that too....

How do you they aren't my targets? biggrin

In seriousness though, I don't live in a terraced house, so the neighbours shouldn't be a problem. What would you expect to pay for an entry level rifle, and more top end rifle? And where do you normally purchase the pellets from?

You sound well balanced; I'd go the whole hog and get a shotgun, you'll feel sooo much better...

Most of them common sense (one would hope) - in terms of legal restrictions, age is the key barrier.
