Now things have settled down, do you feel the forums are as funny/thought provoking/annoying/interesting as they were before the big change?

My only gripe, now there are a multitude of sub forums, is that a discussion doesn't seem to get as many replies as it did in the past, which means the topics die off fairly quickly.

Any comments from you lot?

I find it ridiculous that questions about holidays and the like get shunted to a forum that nobody uses rather than give them more coverage and thus get more answers.

I think its starting to pick up again, there was a lull in the amount of interesting topics but its levelled out now. I do however agree with you about topics dyeing off faster.

It's better now than it was before.

Why? Because a lot of threads get missed by the jokers so they remain relatively on topic.
But others, mostly in The Lounge get just the right balance of wit, banter and helpfulness.

I would have thought I'd have got more replies to this. Can't help thinking the old P&P would have generated a better response as opposed to the sub forum I posted in.

Shameless attempt at thread ressurection

It's changed a lot, I feel that the while the good things are mostly still here (eg you lot cloud9 ) some of the unpleasantness, bigotry etc seems to have finally been filtered out and I really appreciate it.

+1

used to be able to get a lot of sensible advice on various matters - now any topic on Finance or Home buying /renovating is shunted to the specialist forum - where the traffic is tumbleweed

Appreciate the site is far bigger now - but for me - its just lost a little of the community feel from years ago

Much better than it was a year or so ago. The P&P was a torrent of ste. Now it isn't.

Win.

Why doesn't everyone just set their preferences to "Show all forums" and then click on the Pie & Piston heading.

Everything displays the same as it did in the old P&P but with an extra column on the end to show/link to which sub forum it is in.

It's really no different than it was before if you do it that way.
If everyone did it content would rise again.

Well that's the problem, that would only ever work if everybody did it. They haven't and they won't.

It's lost a bit of something, still, it keeps the Mods busy moving stuff I suppose.

But they'll spend longer than it takes to do it moaning about it. Sounds about right.

I agree it would work if people just did it and it's no hardship. But they won't.

Doubtful.

Anyway, what were the halcyon days of eight months ago actually like?
